one camera, one lens, one film: what would you choose?

My rolleiflex F2.8 and Fuji Acros.
In full sunlight, you are quickly looking at max shutter 1/500 with 100 ISO, so 400 would be to fast for those situations.

Mmmm.....something I might have a punt at through April. A couple of options spring to mind - based on gear I own:

1. Mamiya 7 + 65mm + XP2 Super
2. Nikon F3HP + Nikkor Ai 50mm f1.2 + Tri-X

Mostly "street" but potential for a bit of urban landscape and the odd environmental portrait.

I'd go for one of two combos:

- Contax G2 with 45/2 Planar and TMAX 400
Or
- Nikon FM3A with 50/2 HCB Nikkor and TMAX 400

I'm surprised that there aren't more TMY2 selections though I too like TX and HP5.

Doing this same exercise myself right now. Still trying out a few lenses and bodies to see which I like best and will keep, but so far the scales of want vs. $$$ are leaning toward...

Leica M2
35mm f/2 Biogon or Collapsible Summicron
Arista Premium 400 (Tri-x)

Of what I own: Pentax LX with FB-1/FC-1 finder, Pentax FA 35mm f/2, Ilford HP5+.

Does it have to be a rangefinder? My M2 and 35mm f/2.5 Color Skopar, again with HP5.

Something I don't own? Probably a Leica M6TTL and a 35mm Summilux, again with HP5+. I choose HP5 over Tri-X based on some suspicion i have of better tonality with equal push/pull range. It's also cheaper on 100' rolls.

My one camera, one lens, kit just changed. Instead of M6, Sonnetar 50/1.1 and TMX100 it just became Zeiss Ikon, Sonnetar 50/1.1 and TMX100. I just found a burn hole in the shutter. For me at least the ZI is a more robust camera since its shutter is not going to get holes in it. All for the sake of a half a decibel difference in the shutter sound.

Now I have to send the silly thing out to get it fixed. Once it gets back it will be going up for sale.

An M2 with a Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 Nokton SC lens and Delta 400. I just bought a Leica Summaron f2.8 M lens but haven't tried it yet. Likely I will choose the Summaron in place of the Nokton. - jim

my leica year - which is the best thing i've ever done for my photography, and was more of a leica-most-of-the-time rule than a leica-only rule, ended up with a m6 / 50 cron rigid / tri-x combination.

if i can try lenses i haven't shot, i'd consider contax g 45/2 converted to m mount, and a 50 lux asph.

I do have an urge to list one of my stranger cameras. But even if I love the results I will never lug around say a mamiya press universal day after day. I couldn't even stand to bring my dslr all the time even when I tried to.

M6 ttl.
VC 40/1.4
Tri-x 400.

The lens isn't optimal but it is what I have. It is small, sharp and useful enough to stay on the camera. I like using the M6 a lot more than my R3A so that is an easy choice and tri-x always delivers.
