Just exactly what I've been looking for, BUT I just sprung for an NOS Fuji F30. OMG--what to do now?

That's a great little camera.

Yes it does look interesting but only an LCD panel & no VF. I think I'll stick with my Sony with a "Zeiss" lens for the time being. I use the VF a lot.

it does seem that cameras are now migrating to no vf...
some of canon's latest offerings do not have that.

Nice features, but where is RAW? Worthless without it.

Lets hope the Venus Engine 4 has decided it no longer aspires to be Monet either
Nice to see wide and reasonably fast in a compact but the proof will be in the images...

My wife and I each have a Panasonic Lumix - an LX2 and an FX01. IMO the Panasonics are the best deal out there for what they are intended to do.
I would not own any digital p&s as my only camera. This tool does not really need an optical VF, plenty of my other cameras have real viewfinders (some of them even look through the LENS! OH! The humanity!), so I don't consider the lack of an optical VF to be a liability. I also have cameras that shoot RAW - including the LX2 - so the lack of RAW is not a drawback. And I like Monet - I would prefer my high ISO shots to look like Monet than something less artistic. So what's not to like here?
This is the first new digital p&s I have seen in a while that might get me to retire the FX01.

And it has not one but two "baby" modes depending on how many children you have. Obviously they are not going after the Mormon market.

Did you mean to write "Mom" market instead of Mormon? I expect the former is somewhat larger than the latter.
I too am holding off on the new 25mm to see what the early user reviews say.

In my experience the Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT lenses on Panasonic are very good. My current P&S digicam is a TZ-3.
