I just realized, I never uploaded any of my portraits with this camera...
here are a few with the 105/2.5, the first one is portra 160 nc and the second one is cross-processed velvia 100
I was a little scared but it came out pretty cool. You can click on them to view them larger.

likewise, I also used a Nikon D300 and 50mm f/1.2 AI-S during this shoot. I much preferred everything about the results from the pentax, but I figured I would show a shot from the D300 to compare:

PS, I put a WTB ad up in the classifieds for a SMC 55/4...

Geeeze. I can't follow those with mundane chatter about speaking to Eric Hendrickson. Packing up the Beast and sending it off for a CLA to cure the funky mirror problem and much needed focusing screen exchange.

I bet you are not sorry. Let us know about the screen exchange. I would like a split finder.

Is plain prism any better than metered one? Cause those metered are small, dark and with poor eye relief...

Previous to purchasing my 67 w/metered prism, I used my Dad's 67 w/ non-metered prism. I find that I cannot focus as easily with the metered one...nothing seems to pop in or out of focus. My experience with the non-metered one was different. No problem focusing, etc.
Problem is, I donth ave a chance to test these side by side to see if there were any other factors involved. I'd love to hear other's opinions on this as well.

I've never used the non-metered one.
My 67 has the microprism and the 67II has the split. I've found focusing easier with my 67 even though I generally like split image. The microprism screen seems a lot easier for me to be sure of focus. At some point I will pick up a microprism screen for the 67II.

Wow, really nice thread! sorry for beeing such a gearjunky, but I grew somehow tired of my Mamiya RB 67, outside of the save studio environment this beast is just silly to schlepp around and I am not too convinced about the glass either (the127 K/L is ok, the 90 c soso, the 180 leaves me cold)).
Has anybody has made a direct comparison of the Mamiya and the Pentax glass? It seems like the Pentax got a nice color balance and micro-contrast even wide open.
Great photos everyone, I was enjoying them a lot!

This thread is definitely giving me some GAS, but not for 6x7/67 unfortunately. I am interested in the 645 (don't mind the format and of course the small size and lower weight
), would like to know how do 105 and 55 lenses behave on this camera? Would love to get opinions from folks who have used this combo.
Sorry for the OT post, but part of me blames you guys for it.

Thanks and congratulations Gary!
Old technique is not always deteriorating...
The combo you own is nothing short of gorgeous. You can spend a lifetime of bliss exploring the grey scales four times as nice as the puny 24x36 format

The Beast is on it's way to the Pentax Doctor. I am totally nervous until it arrives safely.

I finally found a 55mm f/4 SMC on KEH and snapped it up! I shipped it to my college address so I'll have it to look forward to when I get there in a few weeks!
Ahhhh so excited.

I haven't seen one of those since I found one for a friend last year. Lucky you! Enjoy.

I thought the 55s were fairly easy to come by?
In other news...my 75mm 2.8 AL is on its way from Japan thanks to Dirk at Japan Exposures. SWEET.

I have only seen two 55mm SMC's in the past thirty days, between ebay, KEH, RFF, Fred Miranda, and APUG. And one was the one I bought. I thought they were more common too, but it seemed like they just dried up...
Congrats on your 75, that is indeed a rare lens that I would love to own one day. I just never felt amazed by the 75mm focal length on this camera though.

I just bought an 75mm/2,8 AL at an on-line auction. I hope I did the right thing since the 4.5 is such a sweet lens. The rationale in front of the purely emotional decision was to have
75-105-165 as the travel kit. Or just the 75 as standard lens for mostly anything... We'll see...

With its arrival in the US market early this month, the P645D has caused a run on all compatible lenses, even the P67->645 lens adapter and some P67 lenses. Some folks are struggling with quality issues on the new-issue 55 DFA so might be after the 55 SMC from the P67 system.
To answer one question above, the P67's 55/4 (both versions) and 105/2.4 are excellent on the P645 film cameras. Full auto diaphragm, but aperture-priority only, as the P67 lenses don't have an A position on the aperture ring. And manual focus of course, though the focus confirmation light works fine as confirmation of in-focus.
