M4, 28 Elmarit. It worked well enough for Winogrand.

How about a Rollei 35 SE? You can have any focal length you want as long as it's a 40mm.
With best regards,

Shouldn't they have called that the Rollei 40 SE?

Whichever I grab on the way out the door.
Seriously though I have an m2 / 50 collapsible in my coat pocket all the time and usually carry a 28 Cron along with it lately. If I want digital I lug the MP240 across the chest with the 28 Cron.

if you were about to put together a solid street kit what focal length lenses would you add...one or 2 bodies?
Here are the street kits I usually use:
A. Leica M6 film rangefinder
35mm f/1.4 Zeiss
21mm f/1.4 Leitz (optional)
90mm f/2 Summicron (optional)
B. Fuji X-Pro2 body with 23mm f/2 Fujinon
C. Fuji X-Pro1 body A with 23mm f/1.4 Fujinon
Fuji X-Pro1 body B with 56mm f/1.2 Fujinon
D. Fuji X-Pro1 body A with 23mm f/1.4 Fujinon
Fuji X-Pro1 body B with 56mm f/1.2 Fujinon
Fuji 16mm f/1.4 Fujinon
E. Fuji X-pro2 body with 16-55mm f/2.8 Fujinon

Minolta CLE with 40mm.
Olympus clamshell 35mm P&S.
The first is a better camera and my fallback for dedicated photo walks. But the second gets me better photos simply because I just throw it in my pocket and so I carry it anywhere and travel with it more.

My usual street and travel kit. Leica MM, 35 Lux FLE. Though I do admit I have been using a 24 2.8 Elmarit a lot lately.

A lot of these answers suggest an Olympus XA something to me for the film choice. The digital version is not so easy to even think about...

Any links to photos with that Sony RX0?
Curious about that camera.
Very little distortion, superlative sharpness in the middle of the frame, good sharpness on the outer, only losing a bit at the edges. Good dynamic range, loads of detail. I'm constantly surprised at how good it is compared with the Panasonic LX10 at f4, which exhibits considerable blurring in the outer thirds and more distortion.
It's even halfway decent in low light, giving usable images up to ISO 6400 with a bit of noise reduction in Lightroom.
It's almost completely silent apart from the tiniest focusing sound. There is no shutter sound if you turn off the electronic beep. No one notices it in your hand, and with the accompanying wrist strap, it's very secure. The only issues (for me) are the somewhat clumsy ergonomics, the need to dive into menus to adjust exposure or manual control, and the fairly long minimum focus distance. But it's no worse than a rangefinder, probably closer than most RF lenses.
Add the wonderful build quality, the assurance of weather sealing and crushproofing, and the lovely design, and it's a great pocket camera. Frankly, it's replaced my Ricoh GR for most purposes. You can even get some subject separation if you're close.

If I were to seriously shoot street (I dabble in it every once in a while), I'd bring out my trusty Leica CL with the 40mm and 90mm C lenses.
