Nathanp, great detail in the snow (third shot). This is hard to do (for me at least).

Thanks - I think it was probably just good luck!

Filmfan,
You have some really interesting street shots there! They make a person wonder what is going on! I like the snow scene with the umbrellas as well, good capture!

Lot of things going on in these pictures, good landscapes too! Everyone has done a superb job, I could look at those kind of pictures all day long! They inspire me to get out and capture some of my own!
Thanks,

It's my home brew developer that does that, although with ample light it makes tmy-2 look very fine grained.

This thread has me wanting my Hexar back that I traded off for another RF, Mamiya 7.

Hopefully someone familiar with the Hexar AF and the Leica M can comment: how does the Hexar AF using its silent mode compare to a Leica for noise level and type of sound?
Obviously it has a quality lens, exposure and AF systems.
When I bought my first M6 I was rather disappointed because the shutter was louder than I expected from reading all this miracle stuff about this silent camera. When you take a photo you have three actions: AF, shutter, film winding. AF is audible but more silent than the shutter of the M6. The shutter itself of the Hexar in silent mode is absolutely not audible. You only hear that you took a photo from the slow winding of the film afterwards. You can prevent film winding when you leave the shutter pressed after taking a photo. With this you can take down the camera and release the button later like they implemented it in the M8 with the last firmware release.
So overall I think the Hexar is more silent than any M. But it's slower in silent mode because they extremely slow down Af and winding motor to achieve this.

One problem is that you sometimes don't know if you made the shot or not because the camera is so quiet and smooth that you can barely sense that it fired. I keep trying Hexars and have had success with them, but I get frustrated because of just that situation I described. Also it is pretty hard to know 100% positive what the camera is focused on, although it uncannily seems to focus on the correct plane 99% of the time!
They are a great value and very nice, I've talked myself into them, bought, talked myself out of them, and sold them 6-7 times now ;-p

I suspect that my hexar is a vampire. It doesn't like bright light, and it only walks the streets at night. It's lens is bitingly sharp too! Anyway, I had a good week, and I enjoyed some great music.

Yes, The Hex AF truly is a night prowler. Brassai would have approved.
