Pro-2 with 35f2

Calumet 2.0 is dead. This was Procam - no luck. I called Dodd, too - they don't have one either.

If anyone in the Chicago area has an X-Pro2 I'd be happy to buy you lunch for a chance to play with it for a bit. :)

Ken- I'll have an X-Pro2 on Weds this week.. I'm in the Chicagoland area PM me if you like.. Yeah, I would have loved to try it before I brought it, but camera stores are dead pretty much, I was at ProCam for the first time its an OK place I got my sensor cleaned for free which was nice.. There was a bit too much "trying to help" and tell you about some deal that I don't care about I understand and get it... I was able to pick up a Sony A7 for the first time and man is that thing small too small and cramped just not really comfortable to shoot even with that grip.. It did have some cool features, but as I've felt awhile about it just just reading and looking at photos of it.. its too much a "computer" and not a camera.. Its not a Pro camera at all really, its got pro features and not a good design at all really..Back to the drawing board on that one... So that's why I went with the Fuji they seem to design cameras for photographers so I'm really looking forward to trying the X-Pro2 out if I don't like it I'll return it but I suspect that won't be the The Fuji is replacing a D800E which I liked the image quality hated the bulk and weight and lack for high quality native optics.. I'm a Leica shooter that wanted AF as an option, compact and well designed with High quality optics something that is versatile the optical VF / EVF option is really nice to have, I wished it was "full frame" but I think I'll be fine without it I suspect..

You'll love the x-pro2 then.

I had the exact same experience of trying an A7R2. Hated it as a camera in spite of the amazing sensor.

There are still a few camera stores.left, but as the world has gone digit there is insufficient film and paper/Dev turnover to sustain most. No one needs a new camera every couple of weeks and we buy consumer electronics online. I'm fortunate to have a couple reasonably locally that I can support a bit.

Yeah, I think so too.. X-Pro2 should be a lot fun to shoot with.. Seems to fit a lot of what I'm looking for..

My first job at age 16 in the early 90's I worked in a camera shop a fairly big one. Things have certainly changed no question.. I feel that the traditional camera shop failed to change itself for the new generation in photography which is more digital, but there is an film crowd out there and also people who use both.. As I do feel there is room for them, but the whole "Camera Shop" concept needs to be reworked.. That's for another thread..

Thanks, Marko - PM sent!

Yes, for another thread, but ... the camera shop that everyone remembers fondly and wishes to return was a community. The rate of change/turnover in gear, media (film, paper) and tools (chemistry, equipment) was slower, which was more conducive to community.

But even with the changes in the velocity of product churn, I think there is a a space for a new yet familiar shop and community space to be re-born.

We have a retailer that's new to our scene that is doing just this - not only is it a full line store but it has rental studios and a collaborative post processing area.

Not sure if I ever thought of any store (camera or otherwise) as a community. The closest I've seen was in skateboarding... but lets face it... the store is only really there to sell you something not to be your friend.

The customers are what makes it a community, and the store provides the venue. It's a symbiotic relationship when it happens - which is rare.

Yes, it is rare, at least these days. I was thinking of Stan C. Reade in London, Ontario. Sadly the store is gone, but when I patronized it, it provided a space for community.

I bit the bullet three weeks ago. My M9 is starting to rust. Haven't touched it since. I will be listing it soon in classifieds. x-pro 2 with adapted lenses works great. Fuji lenses are excellent. Slightly larger than M9 but lighter. I'm keeping my M6 just to shoot b&w and use the Leica lens (but I wonder why about this too). The only camera competing with the Fuji is a Holga (go figure:).

Just got my X-Pro2 with 35 f2 yesterday, enjoying it thus far it replaces my Nikon D800E and is a companion to my M9... Such a smooth little machine been out shooting a bit today and will give it more of a workout more this weekend, I'm impressed.. Still figuring out its quirks/features and what not. Feels great in hand fits like a glove.. The AF is really nice especially with this lens. Love the shutter sound sweet! Image quality is awesome, the 35 f2 is money! I got it based on the raving reviews and they were right:) Will report about maybe with a couple of images..

Hi All
Haven't been on this forum for a longtime, in fact probably since I sold my Leica M about a year ago. I have basically moved to the Sony A7 system and the Leica Q but last week (and for my 61st birthday) I sold my last Leica lens and bought the X-Pro 2 and XF35/2. I wanted something to work alongside the Q as in my Leica M days I used to have 2M's with a 28 and 50mm lens. While the Sony A7rII and Loxia 50 and FE55 will outdo the X-Pro 2 in IQ and DR terms I wanted something with a similar analogue control setup to work with the Leica Q. I no longer have any other fuji lenses and will probably just stick with the 35/2 (52.5 equivalent) as I have all the other focal lengths I need covered with the Sony. So far I am loving this combination (apart from the fact that I had to exchange the camera after 3 days as something went wrong with the electronics) the little XF35 lens is just made for this body and I love the fact that this is a fully weather sealed package (the only real downside of the Leica q is the lack of sealing). After a few days of trying out the much praised jpeg's and ACROS film simulation I have gone back to shooting RAW only as I find that with just a couple of custom preset in Lr^ and I can get better results than the OOC jpeg's and don't have to worry about all those in camera settings. I look forward to using this camera and lens.

I have an X100s. The auto focus is slow. But then one realizes that the rangefinders have manual focus and they work great. It is the photographer who is getting slower.

I have just bought a new XPro1 body @ £160 UK and hope to add the 35f2.
Until then it will be the 35 f2.5 Color Scopar which could be fun trying to make it work !
it's currently adapted to the M8 , so an M adapter would be perfect !

The Xpro2 is way out of my league !!

Oh Sure!

Oh Sure!

i'm 65 and feel done...with 2 xe2 bodies, 2 xe1 bodies and an xm1 body...i'm really liking the xe2 bodies and my lenses...i'm just lacking creativity atm...

I'm 70 in a couple weeks and I've just begun! Oddly enough, after years of touting digital here and elsewhere, I just bought a couple old MF cameras. Getting old has nothing to do with growing up.

I had a spat of lack of motivation, it passed. Gear didn't do it, walking around for a month without a camera was part of the cure. Thinking less about motivation and more about pictures was a help too.

I hear what you all say about the 27mm[ 41mm is OK for me ] , but I may go for it as , at £150 at present , it's simply the least expensive entry into using the camera .
See me as a mean snap shooter , but less than £450 for such a camera to complement the Mono M8 seems OK to me ...still gotta find that £150 though !

Unless you don't prefer 50mm, I would really sell something to get the 35mm f/2. It is really THE lens for a Fuji right now.

acknowledged...i doubt that i will ever grow up...but i am growing old...and the pain in my hip stops me from trying to be creative when it comes to walking around and shooting what hits my fancy...
