pros & cons of bessa L or T

Done, really? I keep on reading on your equipment changes. Fascinating. Whatever happened to your Canon P's?

I myself am loving the tiny Leica IIf more and more. Smaller than the Bessa L, Quiter, more hassle to load and rangefindered. And looking waay more cute!
The Bessa T really is the big brother. Metered, M mount and rangefindered I use it in low light situations mostly.

No match for the Leica in rougher travelling though. That camera is the strongest!

I really like my T, i use an imarect on it, the contax/russian turret finders stick too far back and jab me in the head while I'm using the rangefinder.
I'm also trying one of those weird old voightlander finders, the kind that make you keep both eyes open, so far so good, but I think i like leitz imarect better..
I really have a much easier time focusing fast lenses on it than with the R body.
WIth the R, I keep loosing the RF patch and have to move my eye around to find it, that's not a worry with the T, as the whole image is the rf patch.

I don't have an L, but with the T and the L you get external leds for the meter, which I so wish the R had instead or maybe in addition to the viewfinder leds.

one of the things i wanted to accomplish with this set up was keeping the 21 and more importantly, the finder on one camera. with the cl i was moving the finder off the camera and into the bag, too much back & forth. i just had this vision of the finder dropping to the ground. the L is cheaper than buying a new finder.
so now, i'm looking for a black case for the L, the bottom half actually.
if anyone has one not in use...

If it's between an L and a T, then you might consider that there's still some logic to having rangefinder focussing for wide angle lenses.

If I'm shooting indoors in low light, so with a wide aperture and at close distance, I find that focus guesstimation isn't that easy at all to get right. Scale focussing may be fine for landscapes at f16, but it's definately not at four or five foot and f4..

Oh, and if it's just a matter of GAS, then nothing looks as slick as a black one with a chrome lens..

Sorry, I don't have one for sale Joe, but I'd definitely recommend the Voigtlander case made for it... The bottom half gives a very good solid feel to the camera when in use, but the top half also comes in very handy as it covers & protects the mounted finder in the camera bag. The case is 'leatherette' & definitely not as durable as your Luigi cases (I've never had the pleasure of holding one though), but I find it quality enough for normal use. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Cheers!

agreed, but i don't do much indoor shooting and i have other wide and faster lenses if i do.
my kit will be the opposite, a silver body with a black lens.

i have never liked using a full case. this small outfit will have it's own small bag. i see it as a bit of a specialized kit for those 'i wanna shoot really wide' days.
i notice gandy still has the black cases for sale at 39 each. i just may get a new one if i can't find a used one.

black or silver...what's the diff?

joe

I prefer black camera's since they tend to be a little less noticable, especially when you're wearing a black shirt or jacket. Unfortunally the last two lenses that I bought are silver so the combo still attracts attention...

My Bessa L is silver btw (with a black 25mm Skopar Snapshot), if I had a choice then I would have chosen a black one .

Wow! I'm glad this thread came up! I've been thinking of getting an L myself, along with a 21.

25 just feels like a weird number to me for a focal length.
