Rangefinder Photography Book 2.. on sale now

Ordered! ...Book 3 coming soon? Just kidding... ;)

Maybe instead of one Book3, how about several regional books, to BOTH showcase RFF member photography from all parts of the world, and build-up and stregthen the RFF regional clubs.

For example, it would be great to see Rangefinder Photography: Toronto, or Rangefinder Photography: San Francisco Bay Area, or Rangefinder Photography: UK, or Rangefinder Photography: Holland, etc. You get the idea.

The only drawback would be for individuals in sparsely populated RF-user areas.

:)

I definitely want the chance to participate in Book Nr. 3, whenever it is coming up. Great work in Books 1 and 2. Congratulations to everybody who played any role in either book.

A big thank you from me to the team that put this together! :D I'm so honored to have my pics in this book 2 too.

This is a good idea Ray....

In general everyone who is interested in doing a book here go ahead and solicited the interest and participation of the membership in general or by region, whoever.

Book 2 came about from a post on an old thread about Book 1 by Lynn. Gene and I were both on line at the time, we both said it was a good idea, and one PM later Book 2 was in the works.

Whoa, the page that I bought the book on yesterday said the sales ranking was 1702, I refreshed it and this morning it is 247!

Great idea, Ray. Particularly for those of us in the SF Bay Area because we have so many rff folks here it shouldn't be too difficult to get enough images together. Now as for the effort to actually put the book together...

Randy,
You're right we have a lot of local members. We'd have the content. I think we could put this together fairly easily. We could probably use the Book 2 layout as a template to maintain the 'look.'

Using Regional books would get us back around the cost of the first book (not that Book 2 is pricey), increase the RFF-based library, and strengthen the regional "meetings."

I'm game, if others are.

I would like to say that I'm very proud to have one of my pic on the cover of the book. I had purchased the first edition, and for sure will not miss this one too. Thanks again to Rover and the team for putting all this together. 222 pages... wow. That's a book! Bravo!
Congratulations gfdal! Looks like a great shot and I can't wait to see the cover when the book arrives! :)

Europe, anyone?

Good idea, I'm in . I think we have a lot of good RFF photogs here, more than enuff to make a superb European book. ! Question is where to print it. I have no clue at all of all this prin on demand issue, don't know the offers in Germany.

Volker, you are the print specialist, is there a LULU like company in Europe ?

This would be a very good thing to pursue as I see on another thread that the shipping expenses to the Aussies are outrageous.

Perhaps LuLu has affiliates in various venues to eliminate the outside North America shipping expenses?

I order 2 copies delivery to France, and 2 copies delivery to China. In both cases (2 different orders), I had the super saver shipping option, meaning no shipping cost.
If you read the terms:
Does my order qualify for Super Saver Shipping?
Lulu offers free shipping for orders between $25 and $100 that are shipped to a single destination. To take advantage of this great deal, simply choose SuperSaver Shipping as your shipping option at checkout.

All Lulu items are included in the order cost calculation. That means downloads, services, and printed materials all apply to the SuperSaver calculation. For example, purchasing two $6 ebook downloads ($12 total) and a $14 physical book will qualify you for SuperSaver Shipping. On the other hand, a $149 Global Distribution package and two $14 printed books ($28 total) will disqualify you from SuperSaver Shipping, since your order total would be over $100.

Domestic SuperSaver orders are shipped via USPS Media Mail. International SuperSaver orders are shipped via International shipping (10+ business days).

So, if you want to make sure you get the supersaving option, order 1 or 2 books at a time max. Ordering 3 or more will not give you this option, since total value will be over the 100USD limit. Since there is no fee per order, it's worth it!

The print on demand process that LULU use isn't that Unique. It would be easy to find in many places in Europe. But the simple ordering facility preview etc that Lulu uses seems very good. I havn't seen that.

It would be nice to keep a consistent format with the other books.

Maybe send an email to Lulu and see if they will offer any special services for a book intended for a non US audience, though I would buy one too.

Maybe they have a European partner?

Hey, I just sold a copy of one of the photos in the book!!!

Well, one of my coworkers has twin boys and she loves Germano's Skate Life and would like a copy to hang in their room.

Check your email Germano! :)

I was talking to another one of my coworkers last week and he suggested adding contact information for each photographer and offer the opportunity for readers to contact us directly about sales of prints. I guess this would have been a good idea, we can think of this for book 3.

But that is cool, so we have sold x numbers of copies of the book and one print (maybe) now.

First comes first... thanks to all who made this book real, as someone said before "taking the pictures was the easy part".

Rover, thanks for promoting the book.. thats an oportunity to show our work outside the RFF comunity.

I'll get #2 next month, just as I did with #1 two copies, one to keep and one to show everyone I know.
