I can see that, good point. Still and all, Ricoh did think to put in that tricky internal neutral density filter so that you could slow shutter speed down a bit OR more likely shoot a bit wider open to try to increase bokeh - but I did the math and DOF at f/2.4at ten feet is like 22 feet or something ridiculous like that, so no way you can do nice shallow DOF effects - but as you say - if that's not what you're after, then it is hardly a drawback.
I *think* that it would be important to me - but I guess I could give it a miss if some of the other major things (for me) were in line. Internal viewfinder is the biggy - and price of course. Both camera and external viewfinder are currently way outta my league pricewise.
