Should the X-Pro 1 have the EVF of the X-E1 for the price?

Now that the X-E1 is out and has a better EVF display, can we now say the X-Pro 1 for the price should include the better EVF technology? Maybe a X-Pro 1.2 similar to a Leica M8.2?

Please assume one million smileys following this statement:

The X-Pro 1, for the price, should not include EVF.

Not really. Here you can buy 3 x-pro1 bodies for the price of 1 5d mkIII, or almost 5 x-pro1 bodies for the price of an m9.

And TBH, the EVF is good enough. I have no doubt that they will eventually update the c-pro1 and put a better EVF in it, but really, the current one works well.

When I was trying out manual focus lenses on the X-Pro1, I was using the EVF a lot. I suppose it could be better (I haven't seen the X-E1's yet), but it certainly works well enough to make fine photos. But I've since decided that the Fuji lenses are so good that I've stopped thinking about using manual focus lenses. So I get to use the OVF as much as I like... and its GREAT! So much room around the framelines!

I do use the EVF when using the cameras b&w mode... just super being able to see the scene in b&w before exposure!

Sure we can hope for something like that, but it won't be an X-Pro1... since it was already out prior to the X-E1.

A higher res EVF would be nice, but to be honest the size of the screen is tiny anyway - higher res won't help you focus any faster since DOF isn't as obvious at such a small size. What both X models need is peaking since it removes a lot of doubt on where the plane of focus lies.

I just wish the ovf and evf were of the same focal distance. I've had mine five weeks and am loving it, but... it's a little frustrating. I wear bifocals, and for use with the ovf, my regular distance eyeglass lenses are spot-on. However, as soon as the shot review pops up on the evf (or if I'm composing on it) I need to lift up my glasses to view through the magnify readers portion. For the most part, I've learned to trust my composition and the AF and ignore the evf confirmation pop up image looking horribly out of focus. But, yes, a sharper and faster evf would be nice. I've delayed my plans to buy the zoom until I decide if I'll be happy enough shooting with a lens that is evf-only.

The only suggestion I have is to switch off the review mode so that the photo doesn't appear after taking it, and then review it on the rear screen. The other option is to use to rear display to take your photos with and that will let you see what the camera is seeing but, again, that beats the reason for having the optical viewfinder. I wear vari-Focal glasses and I had a similar problem when I had my Leica M9 - I couldn't focus sharply when wearing glasses and had to sell my M9 – and I found the X-Pro1's viewfinder easier you see through. It sounds like the X-E1 wod have been a better choice for you as it's an electronic screen with a diopter adjuster, and of your still within the return policy period with your camera store, it might be a better option to return the x-pro1 and get the X-E1. Sorry, not much help there.

The X-Pro1 has an EVF? Oh yeah, I forgot. Don't use it much.

Interesting, the opposite happens with my x100, evf almost exclusively.
I might still go for the Xpro instead of the E-X1, I use the back screen a lot, and it feels nicer in the hand. The place where you put your thumb on the E-Ex1 feels seriously cheap. I still think the X100 give the most robust and, here I go..., magical feeling, when holding it.

Xpro2 is probably around the corner somewhere... fuji has been banging out the cameras lately. I'm sure it will have the new EVF or something even higher.
