A beautiful lens, but a beast. Congrats!

Just got a 7. Very impressive camera for the price. Only issue on mine is that the frameline illuminating window is loose, which strangely seems to cause issues with vertical alignment.

I just Bought this camera Friday. I was looking for a Nikon F1 or F2 for astrophotography use (just starting) and I came across this old canon camera locally. It took me 3 hours of web searching just to figure out what it was. I am not a very good photographer but this camera was so cool I bought it. I am going to get some film this week and try a few photos with it.

Just got this unloved child for £0.50. It has a 40mm f/2.8 lens and people seem to think that it is the same lens as in the Canonet 28. Well, it isn't. The canonet has a 40mm f/2.8 4 elements in 3 groups Tessar type and this one has a 40mm f/2.8 5 elements in 4 groups which sounds terrible similar to a Sonnar type. Please correct me if wrong.

Hi folks. I am brand new to RF photography and I absolutely love it! I enjoy the challenge of figuring out the shot rather than letting the camera do it for me. Every failed shot is a lesson and each successful shot is a thrill. My first RF? A Canonet QL17 that I picked up at a thrift store for $20. I fully expected light leaks or slow shutter or anything really, but it is bang on and sealed tight.
Here's a pic.

This is one of my personal cameras. It is actually for sale at the moment, as I no longer use the damn thing.

I will only say this on this thread: the Canon is more fun to use...

My 'new' original Canonet. This one is early enough that it does NOT have an aperture scale in the viewfinder, just left and right arrows.

Howdy all!
This is my first foray into rangefinder cameras (also my first post). I picked up this Canonet QL17 G-III for the bargain price of $52 (seemed like a bargain to me). Thanks to reading through this forum I've been able to replace the light seals and clean the haze off the view finder without hassle. I can't wait to see how my first roll of film turns out. It's been a long time since I've used film cameras. I'm so excited to get back to old school.

I didn't go through the whole thread, but I only saw pictures of Canonet gIII in black, so here's a black "new" canonet ql17.
I've had this Canonet ql17 for a couple of months now and I really love it. It is my first rangefinder. The camera came with a flash and lenshood with little baggies that attach to the strap. Very nice.
