Nice combo Erik. If that is a version 2 Fison? I have one on my 11 o'clock. Speaking of old Fisons, do you have any input on bp A36 screw clamp type made of lighter material-aluminum? I also have an A36 bp filter of the same lighter material that came with an A36 Cook & Perkins hood for my un-numbered 3.5 cm Elmar. Wonder what Leica recommended for the early 3.5cm Elmars before the release of the Flqoo in 1936.
 
Thank you, Mojo. I don't know exactly wich version of the FISON it is. It has the clamp screw in nickel, is black and has Woods metal lettering. There are many versions of the FISON.

The aluminium FISON's can be wartime. I've never seen an aluminium FISON in black. They doubtless exist, however.

The FISON also works with the Elmar 35mm and the Hektor 50mm. No surprise then that the FLQOO also works with the Hektor 50mm and the Elmar 50mm. The FLQOO is more practical however because it gives room to your fingers when changing the f/stop. I think Leitz simply thought everyone knew that the FISON fitted the Elmar 35mm too. I think they marked the FLQOO with "Elmar 35mm" only because nobody would understand by themselves that it worked with that lens.

Thanks Erik for your input. I did not see the screw in your Fison therefore thought it is version 2 press fit with round opening. Enjoy looking at your gear and photos.

The case on this picture is a Leica II case with the nose removed.

The advantage of these cases is that they are slightly smaller than the very common Leica III cases. The Leica III cases provide room for the strap lugs of the camera. The original Leica II has no strap lugs, so their cases are smaller and do also fit the Leica I perfectly.

They are pretty rare, however.

Thanks Erik. I do have such a case but not sure I could bring myself to butcher it; it does look good though!

Excellent alternative: look for an early FED case. They are also for a Barnack-sized camera and almost identical in quality of materials. Often they go for EUR 30 or less, sometimes you even have a dead camera with it for that price.

I had a FED 'halved-case' on my Leica II and it was perfect.


EDIT: This is the correct model: single snap at the back, short nose. Or, this double snap model. Reputable seller too, I've bought multiple times and was always very correct.

1936 Leica III (my father's camera)

My father, who loved taking pictures, bought this 1936 black-bodied III - aka Model F - in the early 1950's. He photographed with it and another camera, a Contax, for several decades. When I got interested in taking pictures, he let me use it - the first 'real' camera I ever used. It's also been used by both my brothers - and is still in excellent working condition, though it's almost 80 years old.
