Sigma DP2

Like them both, although I have to confess I am reading the thread on a netbook. First one reminds me of Fuji Acros, second one pushed HP5. In this case they both work well. Actually very nice ISO 3200, assume it looks horrible in color? Just Sigma software, no Lightroom or Photoshop ?

I took it at 2.8 to see how OOF areas render.

Shooting in manual focus mode is great and I had no issue of responsiveness for the two hours I used it

i like the comp and the pp, but there's weird processing on top of l'Arc. i remember seeing stuff like this from other users as well.

as much as i want to get one, there are too many faults with this camera. there is also this fun thing you can do if you shoot into the sun, you get a pink grid.
 
I use Lightroom for the processing yet it does not read DP2 raw files yet (well it does, but with a flashy green color all over ...) So I had to apply my usual processing over JPG files that came from the Sigma software ... Far from ideal. That is why you see that double line on top of the Arch. Hope Adobe comes up quickly with an update !
 
Seems like an amazing camera to me - had a look at the pics in the links here. My gx100 doesn't stand up to it. I'm in for one I think f the handling proves better than the dp1.
 
At a price point of 350 Euro this DP2 would sell like hot cakes!

I wonder if Sigma-Foveon can and would develop a 24x36mm sensor, pack it into a slightly larger body with a fixed 35mm f/2.0 lens and fast low-light focusing - a modern digital Hexar AF of sorts.

Sizing up the sensor by 1.7x would give it roughly 8MP.

It's more in the software than from the camera. I lowered exposure
in SPP and the details are there. That means the files are ok
but the software needs some work.
 
Sniki, are you using Sigma Photo Pro 3.5.1 or 3.5? 3.5 is the one that comes with the camera. Apparently there were some fixes in 3.5.1.
 
I'm using the software furnished with the camera, but I've just made minor adjustment setting "auto" option and nothing else, because I'm - as already granted that - a digital beginner.
With regard to blown highlights probably is due to my fault, exaggeration during backlight compensation when I shot.

I have tried the Sigma software but it seems like going back three years, so clunky. So I will shoot only JPG until Lightroom supports the DP2.

I've just taken Sam's good advice updating to the latest version: it looks definitely smarter!
 
Still, I have the latest, this is so far behind Lightroom. It takes seconds just to process a picture, and another few ones when you change settings.
