Singapore Chapter of RFF

Hey Peter, yep yep gonna get the keys soon, still preparing for stuff! How's your side? Still gg often to Ubin?

Trust me, you will wish to get it over done with! The very fact that the ceremony is such a pain that we all should just get married once in our lifetime! 😛 I am still doing clinical research for MOH and I find that my clinical skills are deteriorating (nothing to do with my indulgence in photography) at an alarming rate! So I made up my mind and resigned to go over to NUH to be a specialist nurse clinician again. At least I need not to bring work home and work late you see. When you are ready to go to Ubin again, do PM me. I need the fresh air and exercise. There are still so much I have yet to document of that wonderful island! 😀

It's refreshing that you guys go to Ubin to shoot the village life over there. Most other photogs would be there for the nature subjects. Don't know how much longer that way of life is going to be preserved so I guess it's best to do it while it's still thriving somewhat.

Hey u Singaporeans

Thot I'd offer u here first.
Got a CV 50mm 2.5 Want to sell liao cos...he he..hand itchy liao!
Anybody want or not?

Got no box but comes with front and rear caps.

Wah so if anyone buys all the gear from Terence and me then they are set.

Yes Terence, getting rid of excess fat.
I see that your R2A arrived? or have you decided on the M yet?
M is good lah... give in to your desires....

Add an Epson 4990 Perfection Photo Scanner to that list of mine... I think I'm going to rely on a lab for my future scans... what a chore!

Nick, anytime man, the R-D1... dunno when I'll be able to lay my hands on one though. I'm really wary about the issues it's been facing but fascinated by it at the same time.

Don't give up on film yet! Give it a bit more time and the reward is worth it. 😉

I say, thats a mighty good price for that R2. have also got my eye on a couple of Rs on ebay that currently are highest bidded at about 100 pounds.
hmmm, R or R2?

Get the R2! 😀

I say R2 too! Giving it a workout now in Hanoi, hopefully its last one 😉

Lots of great photo opportunities here, especially with the Independence Day and Labor Day holidays going on at the moment. Plenty of concerts going on at night.

dryonks how are you?

Deciding between the R and R2 is tough. Eventhough I own a R, I would consider the R2 a good buy. The only question u need to answer is really whether you are going to come over to the DARK SIDE (with regard to M-Mount leica lenses).

I know, I know... Wah so expensive... buy leica siow ah... I've heard all that before..
Except that the DARK SIDE, as I have said before, is IRRESISTABLE!
So if you have the inclination that you will be going for M Mount leica lenses, it is actually more expensive to buy the R then change to the R2. All your screw-mount lenses will then need M-mount adapters. (Worse still if you finally decide to get an M6 or M7)

Good one! Actually one could also get the new R2A and R3A. I took a look at Terence's R2A and is impress with the construction. As for me, I am waiting to the Zeiss Ikon!

hello guys (literally for now)

I is post call today, so as nick knows one tends to want to buy stuff post call...
So lets get me an R2 😀 (yes I think I would'nt stay happy long with screw mounts)
and i would rather get it off one of you than ebay anyway.(yoo hoo Terence)
yes yes and would look to get A 35, 50 and 90. so also from you all...

Leica.. Zeiss Ikon..... oh my
I like cheap and cheerful things - my hubby would disagree. he says cheap and good dosent exist.

Very wise choice! May I suggest that you just get 35mm and 75mm or 50mm and 90mm? My personal experience is that if you have 35mm and 50mm lenses, one of them will get neglected. Choose either the 35mm or 50mm as your normal lens and get a short telephoto. As for your hubby's comment, I could not agree more! There is no such thing as cheap and good, only value for the price you pay and CV products are really good value for the price we pay!

Just to inform everyone, cameraquest.com is having free shipping now. And besides Fotografix in Lucky Chinatown, I saw some old voigtlander stuff in John 3:16. The boss hopes to sell them pronto.. So yep, can go and have a look and hopefully get a bargain.

In my humble experience, post MO1 call gives the worst cases of postcall mania I've seen. MO2 is not so bad, (like bipolar 2). Some of my worst purchases were made when I was post call.

I must say that I don't agree with Peter regarding the 50 and the 35. I really like the 50 if I'm outside and can get distance between the subject and camera. There is no distortion so I'm comfortable that my wife will not kill me for making her look too fat.
The 35mm is really my favourite lens for indoors. but... u guessed it, my wife hates it because it makes her look too "round".

For me, I have not used a lens longer than 50mm on a manual rangefinder for sometime, I cannot (just me) focus it accurately enough. For portraits, I use my 90mm 2.8 on the autofocus G2 (very nice), or an SLR.

I really think Terence's price on the R2 is good. BUT you have no objections from your husband leh... go for the Leica... come join the DARK SIDE... it is good (actually I don't know, it has not reached me yet. I'm on the darkside next week...next week.)
