I'll be getting some 40.5mm filters either this week or next from Arax Photo. If anyone's keen to join in, please let me know.

There are lots of 40.5mm filters available at Cash Converters in pretty good condition when I visited 2 branches a few weeks ago. UV, color etc... Start from $3! Might want to check them out first and save a bundle.

If you're going ahead with Arax, I'd like to tag on the Nikon-Eos adapter.

Thanks

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll go take a look. 🙂

I was out at the Bedok and Toa Payoh branches, more details here...

Ask the staff to take out the basket containing the filters, they're usually in a mess, most with cases. Be sure to check each one cos it may say one thing on the box and there might be something else in it.

If you see any UV filters in 39 or 43mm threads, lemme know!

Terence T your airliners.net shots are fantastic!
I think my hubby would be able to have a good chat with you. he's a tech engineer at SIA and is always on airliners.net

Bessa R is nice price but I still have no money.... currently account has six hundred bucks init 😱

That is a wonderful shot! Always wanted to catch a butterfly on my wife's shoulder but anyway, she is afraid of butterflies or should I say, anything with more than 4 legs!

Hey thanks, ask him to drop me a mail anytime.

I really admire your self control over your expenditures. Ever since discovering CV gear, I've been on a minature spending spree as the gear seems relatively cheap, compared to the Canon SLR stuff I was using. Been trying to rein in the spending, which is a good sign I guess. Trimming down my collection to only what I need instead of getting everything in sight. I should have learnt from my DSLR days, I went through exactly the same thing.

you could try putting disposable income into f.d. too. Be warned that it is really frustrating from an rf GAS point of view though. I did think I kept seeing your user ID in the FS: threads hee hee. any luck with the epson RD-1?

Don't know about FDs, you get so little out of it. I'd prefer blue chip stocks like SIA or UOB. Good long term investments with decent dividends along the way.

I'm ditching the R-D1 for the moment. With the impending arrival of the Leica digital M, it might drive prices down in the near future. Besides, I was told Panasonic has something up their sleeves in a couple of months. Might be worth the wait.

not shooting. living my exciting life - work, kids, put kids to sleep, study, sleep, work, kids, put kids to sleep.........

anyone wants to go sungei buloh or botanic gardens or something to shoot on the weekend?
I can bring the kids...

Peter is working on a Botanic Gardens project, maybe we can make a Sat outing out of it. The wife likes to go for walkies there.

It used to be that whenever I used to go to SBG, I would normally be lugging my Canon and 500mm telephoto w a gigantic tripod. I'd come back with a neck ache after spending an afternoon looking up the trees for avian subjects. It would be nice to bring a little Bessa for a change.

Botanic gardens Sat 28 May

Botanic gardens Sat 28 May

I will probably be there to give the kids a run. But my kids are morning people. So I get there at eight thirty and leave by ten thirty cos the jo (the younger one) will be asking to sleep by then.

Anybody?

Terence, I will be getting the R instead, thought I'll let you know. Anyone has a LTM 35mm to let go?

anyone flying to NY soon? thinking of purchasing something from BHphoto... 🙄

No worries Wai Yong. U picking up a new one with the 35 at that fantastic price. I don't think you'd find anything cheaper than that. My order is being shipped soon so let me know if you're interested, by this weekend.
