Thank you , Gabor. Which film? Hmm. It's been a while back, I know I had M6 back than. And Film - usually I use Fuji Superia print film for snapshots like this, so it must have been that - best I recall.

What were the different M-Rokkor 40mm lenses and how do you distinguish between them? Were the first ones single-coated and the later ones multi-coated?
(Trying to figure out what I have)

If the serial number is on the lens barrel instead of the front of the lens, it's the later (CLE) version. This version was multi-coated. The earlier version, for the CL, was a contemporary of the summicron-c, and is often said to be single-coated, but I think there's some question about that.

Steve, great shots again !! My favorite is the first one. Shot from the hip ?

Thanks, Gabor.
Not hip exactly, but close enough. But the first shot would have been much more difficult to do w/ a 50; having a wider focal length helped here.

What is the difference between a single coated lens such as the C-Summicron 40/2 and a multi coated lens such as the later Rokkor 40/2?

I had the 40mm C-Summicron before and now have the 40mm M-Rokkor CLE. From my experience the multicoated M-Rokkor delivers higher contrast and is less prone to flare. Additionally, it has the normal cam for rangefinder coupling and takes 40.5mm filters (the C-Summicron takes series 5.5 filters, which are hard to get)

Hello everyone - here are my shots on minolta 400mm on hexar
400mm - thats one loooong lens for a Hexar

Log out, go shoot.
I did on my summicron-c and it fits well. I never understood the "I want a 40mm because it's between 35 and 50" as it's very close to 35mm except for short distances. In fact the 40mm cover just inside the 35mm frameline when 35mm cover the outer side of those lines. You just have to be careful when shooting between 0.7m and about 2m.

in my case story was like this - I bought hexar rf body and will not eat anything next 6 months and I have to have lens to take photos with, right? So I ended up with this little jewel, cheap really. for me it's really ok that 40mm and I don't mint so...

I used to use the 40 Summicron-C on an M3DS and just shot with the 50 frameline as a tight crop. It is still my favorite lens though a more friendly filter thread would have been nice to get from Leica.
