And...So carry more batteries. JEEZE...I don't get 13 days form Canons. I'm lucky to get a a full job. I always take 3 or 4 batteries with me for each camera.
Again I have no trouble. Yeah it is. Someone trying to make milkshakes with a drill instead of blender.

I read what you write and then you talk about burst rate in the next breath.
I did not say that. I wrote/meant the exact opposite:
...slow writing speed slows me sometimes even if I _never_ever_ shoot machine gun style.

I guess I misread this?
ridiculously slow writing speed and small frame buffer. I’ve lost track of the times when I missed photo opportunities because the camera was busy writing data to the card after shooting 4-5 RAW frames continuously.

Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention that it was a straight quote from MM review from petapixel website. My bad! I have not personally used MM. http://petapixel.com/2013/07/22/review-leica-monochrom-is-not-quite-a-black-and-white-decision/

My work is mostly about the moment and I have yet to have any problems capturing it.
My advice quit reading this stuff about what it wont do and go out and shoot with one yourself and find out what it will do.

Which camera is this? I have used several compact (system) cameras, and they are all more or less the same as my M8 in terms of battery life. This means active use requires at least one battery change a day.Last December, I spent 21 days abroad and spent everyday few hours taking "street" pictures. I took two batteries with me and the recharger stayed home. First battery lasted 13 days.
Big DSLR bodies often do significantly better. They also have larger batteries.

That trip was with Nikon D800 (with standard battery). I did not chimp or browse at the menus during whole time. Just made couple of quick peeks every day to make sure that the camera actually works, but nothing else.

I would of course, if someone would borrow me their MM for a test drive

Last time I looked the d800 ,a fine camera BTW, was still not a FF rangefinder. And to think this outdated 18mp Mono has been compared DR and sharpness to the d800 and it holds up really well and in some areas actually surpasses it. I'll repost it.

Quote Ralph Gibson :
"... this camera [MM] will do anything I am capable of doing. I will never get to the end of what this instrument can perform."

At the current price of 6800€, it should do absolutely everything imaginable within it's design philosophy. Who knows, maybe the poor battery life sort of simulates the situation of having limited amount of film rolls with you?

I reckon it is about time for Leica to make the first rangefinder phone...

The less battery life = more battery life?
I agree on this: the less you have to pay for equal amount of quality, the more you get

If people have no valid arguments anymore, then the battery comes into play.
Bad battery life is not valid argument? OK, now I give up.
Here is a free tip for Leica: do a firmware update which' sole function would be to make the camera drain the battery faster. There seems to be a market for selling spare batteries. And while at it, triple the price of batteries. Easy money, because no one cares!

The best camera is one that still works!
All you folks banging on about poor battery life obviously haven't owned a DP Merrill.
It really puts the term 'poor battery life' into a different perspective .... and lets not discuss the write times!

I object ...I`m getting at least 30 shots per battery with my Merrills and the write time is a swift ten seconds ....fast enough I say
