surly "only one choice" is a logical absurdity?

Spadge, you have probably noticed there is an elephant in this thread. Many will not have.
Anyway I feel I must search out an unflattering snap of myself to continue the visual theme of this thread.

Maybe not as prestigious as a retrospective at the MOMA but not bad eh?
Rumours of my demise are somewhat premature. (Verbal abuse is seldom fatal, being threatened to have "the crap kicked out of me" is another matter, which is now closed.)
I must admit, I was rather surprised to hear about this thread and having read it through I'm lost for words.
Your kind words are most heart-warming, encouraging and deeply appreciated.
Thank you.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Best regards,

Hello Richard,
I am glad that you seem to have resolved the "beating the crap out of you" situation.

Hey, and Raid is back too. It's a regular old rolling away of the stone since the last time I checked in.

I think that after recent events we need more moderators.
Say ten regular and frequent members who never seem to lose their cool.
The present system works well enough almost all the time; and then one trouble maker can wreak havoc.
Most of the time the members with moderating capability would have nothing whatsoever to do.
But once in a while a gentle advisory warning may be in order (not a threat which would escalate things); and on rare occasions a seven day ban.

well everybody back now - we are nice happy family again.
i hope events like this will make rff stronger.
fights are not such a big problem - they have to happen when a lot of people is in comunication. we just have to learn not to take them to seriously or too personal.

My main concern is that we're going to be putting up "memorial" threads every time someone even moderately popular leaves the forum. I'd hate it if RFF played into the diva syndrome.

As far as I know, this is the only memorial thread that has appeared since I joined in 2006.

It's not the "memorial" aspect so much as the idea of feeding attention to negative/unproductive behavior. I don't want to get involved in the original arguement, but I was there to see the hissy fit "I'm taking my ball and going home!" posts. They do nothing to contribute to a forum; ignoring people, taking a break from a forum, etc. should be done privately. When someone starts announcing it, they're really just trying to pull on people's heart-strings to gain an upper hand in an arguement.
Hence, the "Diva Syndrome."

I think the majority of contributors to this thread are missing the point. Stewart began it (I assume) with the aim of gathering a collection of "less than flattering" self portraits. The reference to Pitxu was purely incidental and a useful hook upon which to hang the thread. Ah well.

Yes that was it, that’s why it’s in w/nw;

I didn’t want to dignify the detractors with a response
PS not that I don’t agree with the sentiments expressed
PPS had Pitxu been a Diva I am sure there would be photographs to prove it

Quite late on my part in welcoming you back, I haven't been around as much I would like, but it's great to have you back. Welcome, and keep those pix coming!

When I look back
I see the landscapes
That I have walked through
But it is different
All the great trees are gone
It seems there are
Remnants of them
But it is the afterglow
Inside of you
Of all those you met
Who meant something in your life
RIP Pitxu
