The ultimate Sin!! Leica sale

Jorge has seen the strobe light at the end of the tunnel. He might understand it's not about the equipment but about his skill and eye.

Jorge, have any of the cameras you've owned made you a better photographer? Is it your camera or is it you that makes the photo what it is? Are you searching for the magic bullet or lens? Expensive cameras and lenses won't make you a photographer. I speak as a professional of more than 40 years and seen dozens of people seeking the magic camera / lens. There is no santa, easter bunny or magic camera or lens. Advice from a professional, settle on a camera system, nikon, canon or whatever and a few lenses and learn to use them. Stay with that system and grow into it.

Just some fatherly advice. Remember it's worth what you paid for it.

Jorge,

If you really want to sell, then sell. You can always come back. If you've been able to amass that kind of camera gear (some pretty recently), then you obviously have enough disposable income to buy back into Leica, should you wish to. After all, it's just camera gear. Do what makes you happy, as long as it doesn't affect anyone else.

For most of us here, at least photography is cheaper than keeping a mistress. For you Jorge, I'm not so sure. Maybe that's your plan? :)

Now the real reason for selling RFF to Stephen finally comes to light. If you owned no RFFs could you also own RFF?

And if you think the grass is always greener, wouldn't you want any old film camera and Seattle Film Works film and processing?

Joe, I've got this T-shirt that says:

What if

the Hokey Pokey

really IS

what it's all about?

:)

It must be the Pagan in me (that brings out the woman in you)

You figure this would be one heck of a sale to jumpstart another site, but I don't see it there yet :D

OTOH, Jorge's done this more than once. There was the Canon 1Ds, the Leica DMR. He sold his Leica's to finance the move.

That's a good price. Someone could stand to make a few large, if they're into the piecemealing, which Dave probably would be. :)
BTW, this is nowhere near Greg's level of impulsiveness.

Damn, you beat me too it. D'ya think that Jorge has a 'backup' 28 he could contest out to a student with a small budget (me? :D)?

I think Kin hit it on the head. I think this is a "publicity stunt" for the new site.

Jorge, have you considered painting? ;)

Jorge, just don't do it. As a business move, it makes little sense, even if you want to jumpstart another site
Just sit down and ponder... Based on your past experiences of sudden, impulsive change (I remember the Hasselblad Xpan period), consider whether the changes brought you any happiness. At least you've lasted a lot longer as a Leica user!

In any case, what a night... I visited RFF just to take a look and found that Kevin Mendenhall is slowly selling his RF gear, Stephanie has a bad case of GAS, and you're about to sell all your Leica gear in one fell swoop.

Are you keeping your Zeiss Ikon lens for some strange purpose? I don't recall seeing it listed in your post. Did you forget it? How could you? It's silver!

Sorry, Jorge, but most respectfully, I must tell you... don't sell on a whim. It makes no financial sense.

Yours truly, member # 12,

Hey Jorge,

I understand you, I already did that, and not just one! I did it TWICE....
And now I'm back with two MPs (0.72&0.85).

It's a fact, these camera are tools right? But the money it's another thing, if you need the money, sell the stuff you don't used and keep a small kit, may I suggest you the MP with 35mm and 50mm and the rest sell it and buy your Nikon. It will not cost you 26K!

If your shooting style really need SLR, they are really cheap on second hand market. But why DSLR? Do you really work on deadline on commercial project?
I still believe that Digital photography it's a pain most of time. Just to keep yourself updated, it's a real wallet sucker.

I did a lot of photojournalist Workshop, locally and International also, I can tell you, more stuff you've got, more bad your pics will be! You should be able to work with one or two bodies and 2 or 3 lens, that's it...

Final decision is yours, you already know that crap!
Good luck
