The sale of RFF and the gear are unrelated. I have been talking with a friend who has both M8 and NIKON DSLR and he has been telling me some interesting things that are making me want to do this. Not to mention I get to identify the TRUE DIE HARD RF USERS now. All the KEEP it and all the SELL comments show your true colors 😀

It's all an evil master plan.

I agree on the DMR, but please think again.

As you know, I have the D200 with the 35/2, 50/1.4, and 85/1.4 Zeiss glass. I also went the Brightscreen route so that manual focus was easier. The D200 is a very ergonomic and easy to use DSLR. The Zeiss glass is what kept me in Nikon for my DSLR needs.

HOWEVER, the files just don't compare to what I'm getting from the M8. The noise is better in the M8, especially if you overexpose by about 1/3 or in other words believe the meter.

Size, ease of focusing, weight, all go to the M8 for use with the wides and standards.

My $.02 is to keep the M8 with the 28 Cron ASPH and the 50 Lux ASPH, if you really want to sell this stuff. Then get the D200 and Zeiss glass for your SLR stuff.

I'm in the "at least keep the MP, 35 and 50mm lenses" camp. That way you'll have some gear that will still be functioning in 20 years. Whatever dSLR you buy, won't be.
 
This is almost painful to watch - it has got to be expensive to dive headlong into and out of camera systems the way you do.

Good luck with the sale, Jorge - hope you find something that really suits you next go 'round.
 
:bang: This is what you are doing here with your sale idea! I have been through this a time or two. If you want to experiment with a DSLR that is fine. But selling all your M stuff to experiment with the DSLR shows that you are not thinking clearly. I am speaking from experience and squandered mucho $ , going from M to Blad and back to M and to digital and back to M. It wont be to long and you will want another M camera.
But it is your money and your life, and only you can make your own decision. Think about this a little more before you make your ultimate decision. Good Luck!

As someone who WAS exclusively DSLR for three years, I am now shifting back towards film. Why? Because every time I leaf through folders of old photos, I'm mindful that some of the shots with no technical value at all, photos of former acquaintances I had or mundane shots of houses I used to live in, are ones I end up valuing the most. Those are precisely the sort that I'm prone to deleting on digital, or at least not bothering to print. Now, maybe you have a whopping hard-drive full of images, but you can't tell me that's a better back-up than film. Hard drives crash, for one. I just feel better committing my sentimental pictures to celluloid rather than digital.

So, while I would agree that digital is a superior medium making great pictures, film can't be beat for simple snapshots. Now do you need your whole Leica kit for that? Perhaps not, but I think it would be a mistake to give up on film entirely.

That said, I'm hoping you'll split up your sale and give me an amazing price on your 0.72 MP (as I just missed the boat on Endustry's...)

Good luck with SLRs. I owned the Nikon, as i said, and it was a wonderful machine.
 
You could go with a 1DS mk2 and some Leica R and the good Contax glass, which is no cheaper than M stuff some of the time, and some Canon tele's.

1DS2 - $8k
C/Z 21mm Distagon - $3k-ish
Leica 35-70 2.8 - $4-5k probably
Canon 200 1.8 - $3k-ish
Canon 600mm 4.0 - $7k
etc..
 
The M8 and 2 lenses is a complete RF kit. You could get a DSLR and a macro, zoom, PC and long lens and still have a big chunk of change left over. I'm not getting the sell everything, unless your friend handed you some inside line on a new Nikon product that was so revolutionary that everybody would be dumping their gear to get it.

I think its an excellent move, I mean do you really need all those lenses, people make great shots with the Holga....too much choice disturbs the creative flow....the mind is certainly a monkey (All minds that is)...so I would keep the MP and the 50 Summilux and dump the rest and buy a camera for a kid who can't afford one... edit nikola said you already did so i guess you can buy some more gear with the money🙂

When I saw the first post, Jorge, I just shook my head... and I'll say no more except to agree that selling it as one bundle seems pretty unlikely (dsang you rascal, are you buying it all??), and may be an attempt to fail! 🙂
 
The M8 is digital. What's wrong with that camera? I used dslr's for years now and I sold my Nikon D100 and some good lenses to buy an M6 and some lenses. I have to save for an M8, but my DLUX 3 works great for now. The quality of digital has become very impressive, but the quality of the equipment doesn't impress me. Canon in my opinion makes the best Dslrs, but they are much too big.

Don't do it man.

Keep M8 with 35... and enjoy the life... travel.... see the world I don't know... whatever makes your hart ticking!

If you can't find satisfaction in all this Leica stuff... how could you find it in "inferior".. hehe... gear, like Nikon and Zeiss?! 😀

I just went through some old "snapshots" that were taken many years ago. To me that is a huge advantage for using film. Digital stuff gets lost in cyberspace or hard drive crashes. I shoot digital also but the photos I want for my children & grandchildren to enjoy in years to come are done on film. At least keep the MP & 50mm for those special family occasions.
