Travel kit

This is what I packed on my last trip to Croatia, but mind that I was DRIVING, not flying. Also after packing the bag the following items stayed at home: Fed 5 (I decided to go without a backup to Bessa), the crappy little Olympus, large Minolta meter. Bessa + Hassie + a few lenses for each did the job. And lots of different film (trust me, I want to stick to one kind, but people keep on giving me expired rolls of all kinds).
Oh, and the dog in the right corner also came along.

I also agree that airport security guys most probably can not "crank up" the intensity of the X scanners - I would say simply because of safety reasons. Now - if they would be able to change the speed under which is the luggage passing the scanner - then they could achieve the same result - more exposure of the luggage.

My own experience from flying to New Zealand abd nack - my films (only ISO 100) were scanned 9 (!) times (at EVERY airport .. hard to understand) but had no problems at all.

But once this is a "travel kit" thread - here is my travel kit to the above mentioned New Zealand trip.

- Olympus Xa
- Rolleiflex T
- Tachihara 4x5 + 75/4.5, 125/5.6, 240/9 and 400/8
- carbon tripod + small alu table to tripod (Manfrotto)
- Digisix light meter
- changing tent
- film holders, all posible acc.
- film ;)

most of the above was in carry-on ...

It was great actually - though the 4x5 was too slow at times and uncomfortable in non optimal weather (a small "field" monorail with more sturdy standards could be faster to use, but would be heavier).
I may go with a 35 RF and MF RF next time (GSW690 could be an option).

Actually - I think people could comment not only WHAT they used but also HOW it worked for them ...

Nice kit Phantomas
I could not have resisted taking out the Hassie
I had a Mamiya 7 in the house in Italy so took that but didn't need to pack it.
So what camera did you take (trying to work it out).

And for Roger and the rest who have given advice, I shall head it and take film on carry on from now on

Oh and Matus I was glad to say that 90% of the time I just took out the M6 and Bessa R3M and from the films I am now scannng this worked perfectly for me

Compatibility

Compatibility

I always try to take compatible bodies that can share lenses - or at bodies that complement each other. I don't usually take a bearer with me (wife refuses to take on this role) and so light is better. I can't think color and monochrome at the same time, so I concentrate on mono and leave color to my wife's small digital P&S. From reading post on RFF it seems that people weigh themselves down when traveling with every piece of gear that they have ever owned. Less is more, as they say.

Hassie definitely came along, one of my favourite cameras. So what came with me was Hassie+80+150+2 backs and Bessa+12+21+40 and the little lightmeter. Good kit, although 150mm for Hassie not entirely necessary as I can manage to do everything with the 80 Planar, trully a great lens.

All fitted into that Crumpler bag too, don't remember the model name.
