Just got me my first smartphone with a camera. Had an old talk and text, upgraded to a (shriek) Windows phone. Why? I am a sucker. I now have a phone with a Carl Zeiss 28/f2.2 lens. How much better is this lens than any generic cell phone lens? Dunno. It is flare-y and I set the saturation high, contrast low using this setting. Given its propensity to flare, it reminds me a bit like the old Leica Summar I had. Still experimenting with it but two thoughts. First - if you want to take candid photos of unsuspecting strangers? Nothing beats a cell phone. In this regard, it's the best "street photography tool" ever invented. Second? Not a world beater in low light, but results are surprising in decent light. Third - all photos need "a little help" in post. I recommend the "Camera Labs" app in the Windows platform (for all both out you on RFF using it.) Fourth. Why the dearth of noise reduction apps - at least on Windows?

Some decent photos here (posted). Good job.

But if you want a Carl Zeiss name - Nokia/Windows. Nokia has a 41 megapixel cell phone camera out by the way. It's supposed to be amazing. Right now their 42 megapixel "PureView" technology is out there but on Symbian. It's supposed to be migrating to the Windows platform soon. That's my next phone/camera, next upgrade cycle.

i'm late to the party i guess. i finally got a decent smart phone (i had one before but didn't really use it for anything other than using it as a phone).

i kind of like the camera on the iPhone 4s. yeah instagram may be kind of cheesy, over processed and a kind of cliche at this point... but it's kind of fun too.

I looked through the album of photos of the YODOBASHI Camera store in Yokohama...very few thing impress me....but WOW. That is almost worth flying to Yokohama just to buy film. The Sheet film was a mind blower ! I saw the camera shots of stock...dam. I need to go there just for the experience. Thanks for sharing the photos...That store in Japan makes "freestyle photo" look like a "Hot Dog" cart. Seriously amazing.
