Not too happy about the power/phone lines but they wouldn't take them down for me.
Not much post processing in this one except I cloned out a street light in the background so this isn't reportage.

Been using the "Viewfinder Mark II" app on my phone (Iphone 6), set to monochrome then cropped this square and adjusted levels a bit.

W/NW shooting Mobiles ...
Been in a photographic slump,
slipped just yesterday and fell with my M6, which now needs a new rewind knob ...
sold my digital gear which really gave me no fulfillment
so I have turned my 'Eye' off of Gear
and decided to shoot just the Mobile... at least till the M6 gets repaired which could be quite sometime
Hence a new thread to those who might Enjoy the carefree phone menagerie
Mobiles are an interesting phenomena...
The light weight is divine, no one knows or cares that you are shooting them, and You always have it with You
Post yours ...

Helen,
Sorry to hear about your fall. The first question is are you OK? And the second thought is to hope the M6 comes home soon.
A couple of iPhone shots for you.
First from London:
and one from my fridge:
Happy shooting,
Kirk

The Google Pixel 2 has an amazing camera. Here's one I took using Portrait Mode, a few days after I got the phone new. Smartphone cameras have come a long way.

I saw the title of this thread, and thought it was going to be about Alexander Calder, and was surprised there were so many pages, then I clicked on it. Now I get it.
Phones.
Here are a couple of grim projections surfacing in the last couple of days, for the camera market from of a very recent interview with Canon's president Fujio Mitarai for the Japanese website Nikkei:
Canon sees the market for digital cameras shrinking rapidly in the future
The market for digital cameras could shrink by about 50% in the next two years.
Two quotes (Google translation):
"In our company cameras have declined at around 10% a year (sales volume) in the past few years (combined with single lens reflex and mirrorless) The world market for interchangeable lens cameras is around 10 million, but decreased the mirrorless product is growing, but it is a replacement with a single lens reflex, it is not adding to the market as a whole "
"People usually shoot with smartphones. The digital camera market will keep falling for about 2 years, but professional and high amateur (advanced) amateurs use about 5 to 6 million units. Finally it will hit the bottom. "
Relevant to a recent thread here, I noticed he didn’t say that Canon was going to be making a new film camera “due to surging demand among young people” or anything along those lines. Just saying.
Anyway. Phones. Interesting thread here, even if it didn’t have any of the pictures of nice mobiles I was looking for.
Helen, hope you get your M6 and your mojo back soon. Keep taking pictures everybody, however.

Here's a Calder mobile, but unfortunately not taken with a mobile. Of course I prefer to shoot film, but the best camera is the one you have with you, or so they say. All the better if it's a capable mobile phone.
