... I was :)

me and my wife just happened to visit a very nice event with lot's of old-timers: cose to Cologne (no, we did not stay in that hotel .. )

the second day (Sunday) was a very nice show in front of a Castle Besberg. I took my Rolleiflex T and Tachi 4x5 along. Indeed - lot a beautiful cars and not too many guests - a nice opportunity to make some nice shot and the day was beautiful too.

As soon as I unpacked the Tachi and started to shoot I got more attention as the shiny cars (and there were some really exceptional ones - like Lancia Stratos HF prototype) - it would be hard to count how many times I was photographed. I expect to star in a few local TV's too ... :p I was not in a hurry and had some nice discussions there too - most people were wondering that the camera was relatively new (2002) and that one can still get a film for these.

Anyhow - one gentleman (no, not Mr. Kaufmann, though he was there too) who also did a take a shot of me had a camera in hand I realized was the new X1 - with an external viewfinder - so I asked how it is. He said - indeed it is nice, and commented positively on the low light ability. I wished I had business cards - I might have got an image from a pre-production X1. It looked good indeed - at least to me better than most images I have seen. No - I did not have the guts whether he could hand it over for a while ...

So - as most of you expected - not much Leica X1 stuff here, I just wanted to share a nice event - I will post some pictures once they will come out. It was really a nice event - I should visit something like this more often .... of course with my Tachi ;)

His "low light" comments are encouraging and his use of the external finder is instructive. I'll be interested in the Leica finder as compared to the much less expensive 35mm Voigtlander finder.
