What have you just BOUGHT?

Olympus XA, new in box, $70. 🙂

Most of a large format set up:
BW chemistry, a box of HP 5+, a daylight tank for 4x5, 5 Fidelity film holders, a couple of lens boards, and a lens to start out with--a 135mm Raptar.

Oh, and an Intrepid 4x5 camera.🙂
This is the first brand new film camera I've bought in a very long time. I think the last new camera I bought was the Bessa R that I bought from Stephen. Woo hoo!

I need a few other things still but the lead time for the intrepid is stated on their website as "six weeks" 🙂bang🙂 so I've got some time to pick up a few more things: changing bag or tent, a heavier duty tripod than the compact Velbon I have now, and, possibly, a better light meter.

I'm not sure if this as a 'thing I bought this week', but I have received a 30mm skylight filter from SRB, which they sent to me as a replacement for the 'cloudy substance' sky light filter I mentioned in a previous post. They did this without being asked and without me having to order/pay for a new one and send the old one back to get a refund. I will be sending the first filter back in case they can examine it and learn something from it.

Now I'm confused. I recently bought a metal 30mm lens hood, and earlier today I bought a metal 37mm lens hood.

What is confusing me is the fact that 'shading' part of the 30mm hood has a diameter of about 46mm, but the 'shading' part of the 37mm hood
has a diameter of only about 41mm!

I don't believe either of them was advertised as being for wide-angle lenses.

Sony Alpha 7 II

Yes, I know, but I just couldn't help it. It was sold by a good friend and very nice and reliable person for a fair price and it came with the TechPro AF adapter fo Leica M lenses. "Resistance is futile!" And so it was...

For what it's worth I wouldn't have been able to resist either.

Yesterday, I went to Dominion Camera for their customer appreciation day. I got three nice used bags, some negative preservers, a vintage Leica handbook, cap keepers, and film. I did NOT get a Bessa L and 15mm f/4.5 Voigtlander lens with finder combo, nor a Canon 50/1.2 LTM, nor a Pentax 50mm f/1.2 with internal dust (and unfortunately fungus) for a discount price. I resisted.

My first large format kit: a used Shen Hao HZX-45, 3 lenses (Fujinon 90/8, Fujinon 150/6.3, and Rodenstock 210/6.8), and a Manfrotto tripod.

I was very pleased with the extremely knowledgeable service and reasonable pricing from CatLABS, now my favorite camera store in Boston.

Canon Power Shot ELPH 100 HS at a thrift store for $11...had a dead battery and no charger...bought a charger from ebay...waiting for charger to see if this thing works...
If I like the results it will replace the Kodak Z710 that I carry while cycling...
