What have you just BOUGHT?

I dunno if there is a "cult" about the D700. I bought mine in 2008 or 2009, because it have a 24x36 chip and I can use all my Ai / Ai-S lenses with it.
I have no other / autofucus lenses because my F2 cant handle that modern stuff. Well - the camera just works. In principle the D700 is a kind a "digital back" instead of the F2 for the Ai lenses.
Dunno how good or bad the colors are in comparison to any other cam - honestly - I dont care. The original battery still have a 100% loading capacity - after about 15 years.
The "device D700" just works, thats all I demand from a machine.
Prints in 20 x 30 cm look good. When do I need larger ones?
Thought about selling ist, but hell, for that prices called, I'll keep it.
I have seen some articles like the one below, so I thought maybe there is some new hype, but maybe not…

I don't generally hold onto computers, but I do have my two prior Mac minis ... a 2012 and a 2019. Both continue to work beautifully. I have the 2012 locked to Maverick because that's the last macOS that my Light camera's software (Lumen) will run on reliably. I also still have my iPad Pro 12.5" from 2014, and it's still running fine too (on whatever iPadOS was the last that could be installed on it). The 2019 iPad Pro 11" is my current user, due to be upgraded to a new one soon.

Too much stuff to keep track of...

Go on then, I like a bit of Mac talk:

Mac Pro 2009 for Audio / 27 iMac 2009 for General~Audio / 27 iMac 2011 for Photos / MacbookPro 2012 for House/Wife.

All in service and doing duties as required, just put 16GB RAM and an SSD in the MBP and thinking of putting Monterey on it, but we'll see how it goes and both the iMacs have i7 processors waiting to be installed.

I finally moved on to Apple Silicon which runs my primary machine (with a great performance increase) but I still have three older MacBook Pros handling various tasks, I think the oldest is 2011. Quite impressive to have that long a working life.

Heh. Well, returning to the photo/camera world:

The Hassy SWC/M I bought should be here on Friday ... I hope it gets in on time because then I can stick the NONS InstaxSQ back on it and have a few photos for 'RoidWeek out of it. 😉 And I know I have some AAA batteries around here somewhere, or need to pick up a four-pack tomorrow, because I'd like to shoot a pack of InstaxSQ with the Leica M4-2 using the Magny 35 gizmo.

I think these are ridiculously priced under normal circumstances but an outdoor company had them marked down to $38 last week from $79. Very convenient attachments.

Dear Board,

I already have an ES-II that I had serviced but the meter is off and I've been too lazy to send it back to get re-checked.

I was surfing eBay and found one in Canada. It also had an SMC Takumar 135mmf3.5 with the Takumar hood. I saved it to think it about it but when they seller offered 20% off, I couldn't resist. For a little less than $ 60.00 it was worth a shot. I figured it might need a calibration and thought if I have 2 to send out, I'll definitely send them.

It arrived today and is clean as a whistle and looks barely used. At first it appeared to be locked up, but once I realized that the shutter is locked when you can see the little red "L" by the shutter button the shutter fired. I opened the back and ran through several shutter and aperture combinations manually and everything looked good. The viewfinder is clear and bright and free from dust and the mirror box and foam look great too. It's definitely in useable condition shooting manually.

I finally opened the battery compartment, and it is the cleanest 50-year-old battery compartment I've ever seen. I dropped 4 LR44's in it and lo and behold the meter works! It even compares favorably with every working hand-held meter I own. It's spot on with my Gossen Luna-LUX and I feel like I hit the camera lottery.

I have next week off from work, so I'll load it with film, shoot it, and get it developed. Wish me luck!

To my great delight, the Post Office outperformed expectations and delivered the SWC today! 😀

I've already taken the opportunity to check it out thoroughly, test it with A12, CFVII 50c, and NONS InstaxSQ backs. All is absolutely fine ... Of course, I found a few niggly things like it was fitted with the wrong lens shade and lacked a lens cap. I also remembered I need another Arca-Swiss camera adapter. So a shade, a cap, and an A-S foot are on the way ... not cheap, but worth it for the Real Things.

Tomorrow I will take it out shooting. I'm pretty happy right now.
