What have you just BOUGHT?

Against my better judgement, I purchased an M8.

So far I like it, but because I currently only had an M3, I only have three 50mm lenses and one 90mm.

50mm framelines on the M8 are like the 90mm on my M3 (not quite, but you get the idea).

So now I'm in the market for something wide. Probably 24-28mm.

Having just retired after 50+ years as a reporter/photojournalist, I have set aside my digital gear in favor of a Leica IIIF and Elmar 5cm/f3.5. I acquired those yesterday and today added five rolls of Tri-X and two rolls of Ilford Delta 100 to get me started again.

I bought my first Leica yesterday. A used m240 from the Leica Store. I can't wait! :)

My actual first Leica gear was a50 Lux I bought which I used on my Sony A7rII, which I've sold a couple of years ago. Now, I have a leica camera but no Leica lens. :( lol I have a Minolta m-rokkor 40mm f/2 and a Canon 50mm 1.4 LTM which I will be using for the meantime. Still trying to decide and research if I want the Voigtlander 35mm 1.2, 35mm 1.4 or the Zeiss Biogon 35mm f/2. :)

Picked up a 7Artisans 28mm f/1.4 to tide me over until I make a final decision on what lenses to complement the M8.

Thinking of getting a 7Artisans 35mm f/2, but I might have to look into the 28mm f1.4 which I didn't know about. :)

I haven't bought much terribly recently, but what I bought last year and earlier this year has been getting a good bit of use and proving to be worth what I paid for it. To wit...

  • Wotancraft Mini-Rider sling bag: Finally a bag that is nearly perfect for my needs when riding the motorcycle or bicycle. It handles carrying just enough to be worth carrying, and not so much that it is a burden, and best of all it absolutely, positively stays put when I'm riding yet proves super easy to get things in and out of quickly. Expensive: yes. Worth it: absolutely!

  • Polaroid SLR670a and SLR670x by MiNT: Just right if you love instant film photography, especially with the PO B&W 600 film. The advantage of the x model is that you can use 100 film as well, and also drive an external flash. Well worth it if instant film is your thing.

  • Fuji GS645S Wide 60 Professional: Perfect form factor for me, super simple and easy to use camera. Like having a Leica M6 with a 35mm f/2 lens but with three times the negative area. Super lens, accurate meter, wonderful feel to both the camera and to the photographs it creates. I'd had one of these years ago, don't know what I sold it to acquire, but am very glad to have it back. And 15 exposures on a roll is just about the perfect number for my average shooting session.

  • Leica CL body: I bought this last Summer after I sold the SL because I still needed a modern digital camera to use with my beloved R lenses for close up and tabletop work. It turns out to be one of the best all round cameras I've owned yet, works superbly with both my R and M lenses, and is that handy "leica m size" and feel in my hands. It makes me wonder, sometimes, why I still have the M-D (until I take a couple of pictures with that one and the Summilux 35, of course). Anyway, this is a top notch camera with just the right balance of features, size, and capability.

It's big! Certainly not a stealthy lens. The 35mm f/2 is probably half the size and would be a little more comfy for street shooting.

The 28mm has a 52mm filter thread.

First day of the local outdoor Sunday antique market and I walked away with a gorgeous black paint Leica II with 11 o’clock nickel Elmar and a Leica IIIa with collapsible Summar.

My first Barnacks. Closest I have owned is a beauty FED-1 I used to have. Shooting the IIIa this evening and it’s better in every way (except loading, that’s still a pain).
 
Nice little Petri 1.9 (type III) Rangefinder and Speedlight kit in original boxes. Only missing the lens cap...
