What have you just BOUGHT?

Just purchased an original Nikon Photomic meter in black! I have been looking for one for about ten years.

In a moment of weakness, I saw the Panasonic GX9 body and thought, "Sheesh! That looks like a renovated, miniaturized, current version of my favorite old Panasonic L1 DSLR from 2006. And I have a whole bunch of lenses to use on Micro-FourThirds cameras...!" And then I found one, new body only for $500. Couldn't resist...

Panasonic GX9, black, body-only
Olympus Body Cap Lenses: 15mm f/8 & 9mm Fisheye f/8

I had the lenses already. The GX9 with the 15/8 body cap lens is just perfect for snapping about, light and compact for bicycle carry, etc.

M4 with the Summicron DR. I'm yet to test it. Without film all looks and sounds OK. I'll probably have to give the lens to be cleaned, but it does not seem to have any serious haze or separation issues...

This week I bought:

A Neewar "mini desktop tripod" with ball and socket head which has a spirit level in the mounting plate release knob. The head comes off and they do other heads which have horizontal spirit levels. I'm going to look at their website to see if these can fit on the tripod body.

A Gossen Lunasix F. I've compared the readings with my Gossen Variosix F but the Lunasix seems to give reflected readings that differ by 1/3rd to 1.5 stops to those of the Variosix, and these differences don't seem to be consistent although I've not done exhaustive tests. Both were set to 400 asa and both have the silicon blue sensors and 30 degree reflected measuring angles. I also held them at the same height close to each other and took the readings at the same time, although I had to put the Vario down to turn the dial on the Luna.
They seem to give the same incident readings though.

Unfortunately I don't have a grey card to test them both on.

No idea.

There is a tiny mark from a spanner in one of the slots but that is about all I see on it. Glass doesn't have any scratches or marks on it. Clean looking straight though, slightly less so with a flashlight but nothing major. Aperture is smooth, even and oil free. Focus is very smooth, and very short. First couple of test images look fine. I was expecting a beat lens (and hoping for good glass) but this really surprised me. Especially. consider the price they had it at.

Purchases over the last few days

Fujifilm GFX 50r - via Samy's. Everyone was on backorder, and I oredered on wednesday, oddly enough got an email on Friday to expect it today. It just arrived and I'm charging the battery now.

Fujinon GF 50 f3.5 - Local craiglist find. Noticed it had been up up for a while ordered my camera at Samy's and emailed the guy about it. Thought it best to buy by the weekend, not because I expected my camera body but afraid it would be bought out from under me (good price). Turns out the guy bought a dozen of them when Fuji was doing a $500 rebates earlier this summer and was flipping them once the rebate was done. Still a good price if you ask me.

Fotodiox Pro Xpan To GFX Adapter - I've had a Fuji Tx1 for ages and in part picked up the GFX to run these on this camera body (it's a long boring story). Hasn't arrived yet, but really really looking forward to this arriving.

Could use a remote and maybe an extra battery at this point. On and screen protector.

Oh and Wine COuntry Filter stystem - This has been a huge headache and suffice to say the least. Ordered a base system via adorama 2 months ago, noticed they were about send me the wrong filter size (I had ordered a 72mm). Had to return it, was promosed I could re-order once they got it back. Idid but the 72mm was on backorder. OK. Last week checked in and saw that Adorma had cancilled order claiming it wasn't on sale anymore. Fkers. Ened up ordering the base set off a guy in australia via ebay for the same price (right filter size). Waiting to get now.

and time to sell some stuff on epay . . .

Pax 35

Pax 35

Just got a pax 35, seems like a mini leica rangefinder. The focusing mechanism was cemented in place, got some scarce info online and the front section ( without the lenses) is soakng in xylol to unfreeze it. Will see how does it work.

Lowepro Format 100 camera case. Snuggly Barnack sized. Camera for illustration only, not included in transaction. Obvs.

Good luck! I know this has worked for some, but, I've got 3 Pax cameras, and got nowhere with any of them, with Xylene. I won't be getting a 4th, to try.

My last hope, is, at some point, I'm going to try heating the Xylene a bit, and/or try acetone.

Fujifilm GFX 50r

Fujinon GF 50 f3.5

Jealous... it's my next camera when I can get to the USA again. Due to Covid, I can't travel back to the US like I generally do. In Chile, it costs twice as much as in the USA.

Since I couldn't afford to buy a new lens, I bought a half of a new lens - the Voigtlander 40mm f2.8 Heliar.

I've had my eye on this quirky little collapsible for awhile and since I already had an extra Voigtlander VM/E Close Focus Adapter that I can leave on it all the time I thought "why not" and the price was right too!

All the best,
Mike

This week I bought a Neewer 64" aluminium tripod (which had a head with one spirit level) and a separate Neewer Ball head that has two spirit levels, both of which are actually practical due to being quite big bubbles inside fairly small circles which makes it reasonably clear whether the head is level rather than being tiny bubbles in a big circle, which makes it harder to tell.

Curiously, both the seller of these and the seller of the Neewer mini tripod I bought last time have both stopped trading on ebay, one by no longer being a member and the other having nothing to sell.
