What have you just BOUGHT?

Reading this thread is dangerous to the Wallet....

A few weeks ago- Argus/Cosina STL1000 with 55/1.4 Cosinon- cheap, 1/2 the price of the lens alone.

This week I bought another 29mm push-on lens hood for my 29mm push-on Yellow filter, and I've adjusted the tabs so it fits properly.

Quite a big beast, and a very extreme lens! Sounds like just the thing to jog you out of the creative doldrums. And that's one of the best reasons to give in to GAS; anyone who says that "equipment doesn't matter" is full of beans!

Yes, the 300 is a beast, and also a brick. Even a cement block. It works as new, and best of all it's rock-sharp. With my Nikon D 180/2/8 and my 60/2.8 I now have three of the sharpest lenses I've owned in my life. Images from this trio are small engravings.

Yet another GAS happenstance in my life took place (or happened, if you prefer) when an elderly friend who is moving to a retirement village gave me her Nikon D90, bought new, with (I did the Nikon shutter test) all of 3,200 'actuations' in its 15-year life. Alas,, this camera came to me without the 18-55 kit lens. I have now ordered one online from my Melbourne camera dealer, for the amazing price of AUD $85.00, with free packing and postage. Yes, even in Century 21 there are still good camera shops, for which we are all surely ever thanful.

Now I can walk out with an old Nikkor MF lens and take terrible pictures to my heart's content, without wasting a frame of film!

Well said. Immortal words, even.

I will print this in bold text, frame it and put it on the wall in front of my PC...

Waiting for a pristine rolleicord ii.was going to get 1a but want the bay 1 option. Not sure I really need a third TLR, but it's smaller and could be good for street. I started looking for a second contax/Kiev body, but that's GAS for you.

A 120mm f/5.6 for the Rollei 6006. KEH had it in "EX" condition at a fair price, which I dithered over, but then they did a 10% off promotion. To mis-quote Robert Palmer: What used to look good to me became "simply irresistible"!

Where do you buy batteries for the 6006? Are they available factory new?

Unfortunately, new batteries have been unavailable for a long time. However, Rolleiflex USA >The official US dealer of Rolleiflex Cameras and Lenses including the new Hy6 Mod2 and FX-N TLR< will do a rebuild for you with nimh cells if you have your own battery, but will not sell them otherwise. Your rebuild will need a new charger as well. Eric Hiss, the owner, is a wonderful and very knowledgeable man to deal with. He was extraordinarily patient and helpful when I contacted him about a rebuild and purchasing eyepiece diopters.
A warning: on eBay, there is a Canadian fellow selling replacement Lithium batteries for Rollei SLRS. According to Eric, they may work or they may blow out your electronics. He was emphatic in stating that I should not try using them, as he has seen the resulting damage in numerous cameras. It seems that they are a deal that looks too good to be true, because that's exactly the case. I trust Eric.

I sold my 6008 because all 3 batteries died and I couldn’t find another. And I thought Rollei or F&H had gone under.

Kinda boring but I was finally able to purchase 3 100ml bottles of Moersch Restrainer Neutral Tone from Freestyle.
For the past couple years they were out of stock with no indication when they would be getting more...they asked if I wanted to receive an email when it came in but that never happened...the 3 bottles arrived today...I'm happy...

Well, they did. Sorta. There's a swirl of rumors on the internet; it seems that they were bought out, and the Hy6 continued to be made from a stock of old parts, but the new buyers went under as well, apparently in 2020. Don't quote me on any of this, since it's real fuzzy, and I'm not sure anyone has a clear sense of what happened. In any case, Rolleiflex USA continues to be the source for repairs, until parts run out, I guess.
F&H is long gone. The Rollei name is now owned by some Chinese group that pumps out cheap point-and-shoots, as I understand it. Sic transit gloria mundi.
Sorry to hear you sold your 6008. It seems like the ultimate 6x6 camera, with all the bells and whistles, and is probably my fantasy medium format camera. The 6006 ain't too shabby, but its metering is crudely implemented and awkward. Nevertheless, I do love it, and, most importantly, it was affordable. Well, sorta...

i always worried about beautiful SLX and later Rolleis like this because of the battery situation. It's why I stuck with my old, mechanical Hassy 500CM. It's antediluvian with respect to features, but the lenses are great and it keeps on working.

And the design is timeless! An absolute classic.
