What have you resisted buying in 2010?

Not much unfortunately. 2010 has been gaseous for me, adding an F6 and an M6 to my kit and swapping my Shen Hao for an Ebony. Too much gas.

I succumbed after searching for a few years for this combo:

Mint 1958 button rewind M2 w/ST and the 35 2.8 Summaron-M w/hood. Both CLA'd by Kindermann which included a lens recollimation.

I'm done for awhile 🙂

Zeiss Planar ZM, Pentax Spotmatic, 50mm Takumar, OM2N, OM3, OM4Ti, Zuiko 85/2, Zuiko 28/2, Zuiko 50/1,4.
Resisted each in turn for a few days ...then inevitably bought them all ... and enjoying every photo op with them.

I have yet to make a photo gear related purchase this year. The last one was GRD-III in late 2009. Thus I have avoided temptation from any surviving camera made since the very dawn of photography 😀

Will get a Fuji 690 as soon as the pennies roll home, though. Together, we will have the strength to resist any temptation, I hope 😀

I've been out of work until a month ago, have another month to go to finish school so resistance was pretty easy. But I have a lot of things I need (want 🙂 ) that I'll slowly acquire over the following year.

1. Panasonic Lx5-new travel camera as traveling is my job.
2. New Printer-B&H has the Epson 2880 on sale for $389 this weekend (including a $300 mail-in rebate.) My 2200 died on me.
3. Canon 24-105 Zoom and Canon 10-22.

I have GAS for:
4. Pentax 67II with 105. I want to go out west and spend some time.
5. Olympus E-30 with 12-60. I hear it's a killer lens. Might do this combo in place of the two Canons above.

Helen...Given the kind of atmospheric shooting I think you like to do I'm not sure you'd love the Planar. Incredible lens, razor sharp but a little clinical to me. I'd think the C-Sonnar is a better match for you 🙂

Kent

oh Hello Kent. thanx for thinking of Me....🙂
I did have the C Sonnar in the past...LOVELY lens but I was not always Fond of the OOF ...sometimes it appeared a tad too swirley for my Taste
I do Love the planar OOF ...seems quite Creamy though I do Agree perhaps less 'Atmospheric' but there is something STELLAR about it....
I'm still on the Fence...
Cheers- H

Thanks...I had a good laugh...😛

I bought a Pentax Spotmatic w/50mm 1.4 and do not regret that decision one bit...I also picked up a Tak 35mm 3.5 in Like New condition before I got the Spot body...
I started in photography with a Vivitar 400sl (M42 lenses) so I had a 28mm 2.8, 135mm 2.8 & 200mm 3.5...All are the Vivitar brand name...
I also enjoy every chance I get to shoot with the Pentax...😀

I decided last Dec 24th - the day I picked up an F4s and returned to film - to skip upgrading my D70s and to focus on film this year. I went on a huge binge, exploring all sorts of cameras and systems. Basically anything I could find cheap, with 3 notable exceptions.

The result was picking up and shooting everything here:

With the exception of the F4s, Bronica SQ and Leica IIIc, I probably spent about $500. Those would bump it up another $600. And a bunch of that will be recovered over the next few months as I continue to sell off what I use the least.

What itches haven't I scratched?
- An enlarger. This will happen in the near future.
- A CLA for the Leica. Last serviced in '61, the slow speeds are off, needs new curtains, rangefinder is hard to see, etc.
- A fast/wide lens for the Leica. I love the look I get out of the Lynx 14 but its just such a monster to carry around compared to the small rangefinders.
- An OM2n w/28mm. Hard to justify given my Nikon investment, but there just isn't anything quite like it.
- A CLE or R3A. I just handled the R3A for the first time a week ago. I'm really impressed by the camera. That with the 40mm/1.4 was delicious.

I have resisted buying film cameras in 2010 as I have been using them less and less. Had I not made that pledge to myself I probably would have bought a Fujifilm GF670 and a Bessa T. Instead, I bought the Canon 5DM2 and a Panasonic GF1.

Since I found this website this year I have been in a perpetual state of GAS.
Resisted a mint Rollei 2.8F, Wide or Tele!
Resisted 1000 rolls of Rollei Retro 400 film!
Resisted a Fuji GX617!
Resisted a Fujifilm GF670!
Resisted an XPan II with a 30mm aspherical lens!
Resisted a Leica IIIG!
Resisted a Mamiya 7II with a 43mm lens.
WTF didn't I resist in 2010?! 😱
Oh, a Widelux F8 that I am lovin', fits like a glove, is so easy and light to carry, looks more beautiful than jewelry, is a thrill to use and engenders lots of gratitude.
Neither did I resist a Polaroid 110B that is currently being converted to 4x5 with interchangeable lenses, including a Schneider Angulon 90mm f-6.8, Nikkor W 150mm f5.6, and the existing Ysarex 127mm. 😀

Have a look, Helen, at the C/Y mount Planar 50/1.4 ... blows the ZM Planar out of the water!

Back to our regularly scheduled programming, I've resisted selling my M lenses to fund hideous, ultimately unsatisfying digital rigs.

Lust after an M9, but because of the price I don't even have to resist.

Also resisted the X100, which was even easier, since it don't exist yet!
