I had my M3 serviced by Don about 2 years ago, it completed in 6 weeks.

It's the time we discuss prior to sending off the gear to him. Last item was a lens to be cleaned and overhauled. His estimate was 2 months. In 2 months he was done and shipped back.

I just got an M6 and lens back from CLA with a finder upgrade. He did beautiful work in just over a month which includes regular international shipping times and going through customs. (I voted for the 2-3 months cause of that but it was only probably a couple of weeks in his hands.)
Can we quit slagging the guy with "I have heard" rumors and threads. There have been a lot lately on RFF. Everyone has anomalies. This is only one person. He has the best workmanship reputation in the North America, and many many happy customers who are the silent majority. So, why keep repeating these rumors?

...and his communication was excellent with me by email. He replies within a day or two to all my queries.

Don is an expert, and a master.
He is honest is the day is long.
I won't hesitate to use him again.

Stick with Don--the others may be good, but I know Don, and he does beautiful work.

Had a 135mm leica that needed focus adjusted. Shipped and returned within a month and worked perfectly.

Don's turnaround time changes constantly depending on the number of camras that people have sent him for work at that moment.
Before you send him a camera, ask, by eMail, what his current turnaround time is. He will give you a candid answer and will meet his quoted schedule.
Accept the fact that he is at the top of his craft and you may have to wait, or, go somewhere else.
The one exception to this that I have experienced was a camera that I sent back for a warranty repair. Don evidently set this at the head of the line and it came back to me in ten days - my door to his door to my door.
