The vi-l is sort-of a step back from the P's you enjoy so much. It is a very nice camera. One of these days, when I have too much spare cash :D ... yeh, sure.. I'd like to also add an L-1 to the collection. It has eluded me so far, and times are tough and tight. Also, I've been buying Contax, which is a change of pace, and venue. On that note, I own a III (shutter ribbons broke on me few months ago, so due for a visit to Henry), a IIa BD in nice shape, a lovely IIIa, and another on the way that should be almost as nice. They are different, but those lenses just make the difference.
It is interesting to actually handle the cameras from the SII through the 7sZ. They are a pretty logical evolution, especially when you consider the Leica historical timeline, as well.
Was in Maine this morning, but after lunch the hail started, and we drove home part way in driving snow. So much for those photo ops :bang: . I got a bit of exercise carrying gear in and aoaut of the house.
Now that you have enough P's, think carefully about the next purchase. I would suggest either a vi-l/vi-t or the L-1 as different but close, and a IVSb2 as a chaser.
It never ends... Long Live GAS !!

i had, briefly, a canon lll and a ivsb and i quite liked them. i traded the lll for a 35/1.8 and am very happy with that lens.
the ivsb was harder to let go but in truth i found the bottom loaders were not for me. they were slower to use and while kinda quaint, owning them made me feel too much like a collector (not that that's a bad thing;)).

i'm curious...how do you see the vi-l as a step back from the p.
i thought the p was a simpler version of the vi?

as for contax i have steered clear. i bought a kiev and really liked it. liked it too much, liked it so much i sold it right quick. i just can't afford to have 2 systems going at once and i decided to stay with canon.

You guys all have so much gear.. I would have too if it weren't for trimming down the list a couple of times..

Here's what I have:
1. Bessa-T (black) with CV25/4 and M-Hexanon 50/2
2. Nikon D50 (talk about extremes here) with 50/1.8AFD and Tamron90/2.8 macro
3. Bronica SQB with 80/2.8 and 2x converter
4. Konica Minolta G530 ultra compact digital P&S

That's it, and I'm even contemplating letting go of the Bronica because it sees too little action lately.

Let's list the Canon's this time.

Brian, I think one of the Contax SLRs displayed the matrix reading and how far it was from a centre-weighted reading. Can't remember the details, and I couldn't find what I was looking for on the mir.com.my site.

Only one J8? Collect the whole set! Lots of variations in these, I gather!

I think a J8 and J3 in CRF may be in order. Then in 2006 I will take it slow with the thought of hopefully finding a Summarit, Summitar, Summar and Nikkor 50/2 for the collection. That is 2006 though.
