what's in your bag?

My wife and children and I are leaving tomorrow for a 3 day visit with my parents, 4 hours drive away. I'm packing my camera bag and thought I'd show you what's in it. What does your camera bag carry when you go off on a few day's trip?

This looks familiar to mee too. Bessa L and R, Mat124G and a Ricoh R35 could be in my bag for a 4 day trip. Seldom the SLR is involved too, only if I need the
full-auto-motor speed with a zoom. 😎

Actually, I may list it for sale here soon (to help fund r-d1 purchase). It is currently at cameraquest for cleaning.
Definitely your bag would look better with twin M's inside.

I'm just back from 2 weeks in Argentina. Thought long and hard about what to bring, in the end I travelled light with my Oly 35 SP, yellow filter, lens hood, 1 mini tripod, and small Pentax digicam.

My everyday bag is a beat-up, ugly, old, green backpack. I usually carry:

• Bessa R w/50mm Nokton & 21mm Color-Skopar
• Lunch bag
• 4 rolls of film (not 4 dozen! 😱 )
• Occasionally, the flash or one of my Agfa folding cameras

When I'm going on a road trip, I'll use a Lowepro (which I got for free from my girlfriend's sister), which can hold:

• Bessar R w/50 & 21
• Yashica 'A' TLR w/bag of filters & hood
• One Agfa folder (both If I squeeze it)
• Minolta Flash Meter III
• Flash & cords
• About a dozen rolls of film (35 & 120)
• Magazines and a water bottle if I don't zip it shut

When I arrive at my destination, I often transfer what I'm going to use during the day to the backpack, and off I go.

Stu: How tightly-packed is the Budgee Smuggler with all that kit in there? I've been looking at the 15 Love, but maybe that's overkill...

Just have to say wow, you guys carry some nice equipment. I'd be afraid to drop the bag or have it stolen! I'm a newbie here and just getting into RFs (so far, the QL17, Yashica 35 GSN, Konica S2, and C35 in the mail), but to me the advantage is to travel light. Just took my QL17 to a 101st birthday party and got some good shots under low light during a dinner show, even with 400 speed loaded. I'm safely hooked on RFs!

Basically, the only things staying at home are my VC 35mm Ultron and my SB800 flash, and yet it's a small kit... I LOVE it!

Hey,

A small shoulder bag with an XPan + 45mm (+spare batteries, I know it's not entirely RFish, but you need batteries with this) and 5 (or more in case of bracketing) rolls of film for each day. However, only 5 rolls of film fits in my bag, so I stuff the rest in my pockets and various diferent places, spare shoes in my backpack for example.

3-5 rolls of film (color and b&w)
Will subsititute Rolliflex MVX for GS645 when ocassion calls for it.
Compact and quite light!

My list was just what I carry from the house to the car or plane. When I shoot I grab a camera or two and stuff whatever else I need in jacket pockets, or if it's warm in a Domke vest. My wife accuses me of looking like a tourist when we are on vacation and I wear the vest, but hell -- we are tourists!!! 😀 😀 😀 I absolutely hate carrying a bag around and will only do it if I have to -- which is almost never.

i'm not really sure what the difference would be for me.

i carry one camera and maybe 2 lenses most of the time. (incl the one on the camera)
for a longer trip maybe 2 camera and and a 3rd lens.

billingham bag for a day trip = one camera w/ lens + film & meter
longer trip maybe the domke with 2 cameras + one extra lens, extra film + meter

i don't do touristy shots normally so my style and subjects don't change much either.

Actually on the way back from Vienna, Austria, where I luckily found some spare time to take a few images (out of a strange coincidence I had several rolls of R3 in my luggage)... 🙂

Always have 2 tripods in the car ... Big medium camera one and a lightweight (well sort of) made out of this space stuff, forgot the name .... Both are Manfrottos, the big one has an Arco head, the smaller one a Manfrotto rc141

I don't see how I can possibly squeeze a flask into my kit, but I am putting a Swiss army knife in there immediately (happened to find an old one in a jacket pocket last night -- the camera bag is a perfect place for it).
