Hi: Newbie here.

What's the best price you have seen for a NEW, USA M7? Is it pretty much controlled pricing by Leica for their dealers?

Welcome to the forum Alan. 🙂 I assume you are not any relation of Alan Shearer recently of Newcastle United?

The best price I have seen for a brand new USA Passport M7 was $2275 sold on eBay 10/10/2005 by a Leica authorized dealer. The body was a 0.72 mag.

Yes, the pricing is pretty much controlled by Leica.

Thank you. No, I'm not related, nor AM I that Alan Shearer. But, I do get that question all the time. Actually got me a free dinner in Paris once?

$2275 is an amazing price. I'm considering an M7 vs. my current M6, because I have a severe case of GAS.

IIRC, Tony Rose at popflash lists M7 bodies for $2675 that are "virtual" new. I'm not sure what KB is asking because I get a server error there. Photo Village wants around $3500 new and from $2500-2700 for their warranted "used" ones.

Thanks all.

I noticed the same problem with KB. Out of business explains it!

Tony seems to have the best price, unless you take a risk with a private seller.

Thanks again.

My experience with Tony has been excellent. Very responsive, ships very quickly, goods are exactly as described, very competitive prices.

Thanks. This is good to know. In case I cave soon🙂

thanks for the news, peter. sorry to hear, though. a good source while they were around.

i agree with peter re: tony at popflash. prices, service, communication - all first rate. very pleasant guy. clearly loves what he does.

alan, i just did the same thing - M6 out, M7 in. i'm feeling ambivalent about my decision, ah if i could just keep both. the M7 feels "busier" with its expanded LEDs and EC dial. despite its meter, the M6 has always felt right in its simplicity.

I am really betwixt. I put myself on a wait list for an M8 (or whatever it ends up being called), but I'm not really sure that makes sense. My rational for the M7 is 1.) I have a real chrome thing!! 2.) The rangfinder flare that I occasionally deal with in the M6. 3.) I want one!!

None of that makes any sense. Help me please!!!

alan, re: pt #2 if the finder flare bothers, you can upgrade to the M7's at Golden Touch. fwiw, i found that tilting the camera just slightly solved the few times mine flared

pts #1 and #3, well, nothing rational there to discuss

you've got it bad ;-))

Wasn't aware of the upgrade possibility. Thank you!

Point taken on 1 and 3, total irrationality.

I have found that tilting helps, but it gives me an excuse?
