No!...I'm talking about that indispensible aid to razor-sharp pictures - the tripod. I have two beautiful Manfrotto's, a light one, and a heavier, sturdier one for the larger formats ( of which-I don't indulge much now!). Well - I looked at them standing in the corner of my workshop, and as I brushed off the accumulated dust, and bits of metal swarf ( they were in 'firing range' of the lathe! ) I realized just how long it is since I used them!:D. Now I know that I should, but somehow I never get around to taking 'em out, exept to throw them in the back of the car occasionaly - but walking....no way!, I hate carrying them!, the silly part is - I'm often up to all sorts of antics to steady the camera, when light is fading!:(
Dave.

Aha... last night about 7:15 p.m. EDT

One of "our" does brought her new fawn to gambole in our back yard... little squirt raced around like Jack Russell terrier before his mom reined him in.

Sorry, no pix at this time - shot film in an evil slr (Nikon F801)

It has been about a year, but I've just gotten a 120/8 SW Nikkor for the 810, so the Bogen 3258 will be in use soon!!

I've been told that my tripod is too small for my 5x7 camera, so that gets me thinking about finding a sturdy wooden one...

Another vote for the Leica table top tripod. Mine came used with an unknown ball head but it works great. I use it much more than my Bogen tripod and the little Leica will hold my Nikon F with a 135mm f2.0 on it. No small task. Joe

Last weekend in fact, but that was with the dSLR. It also sees a lot of use with the medium format gear.

Used it on an indoors shot today, put the Leica M8 with M-Hex 90mm on top and shot my new avatar, showing my new L-Hex 35mm f2.0 on the Leica IIIa brassed workhorse!

I usually shoot handheld with my 35mm gear and on a tripod with medium format. I don't use a tripod for 35mm because if i am losing the fast mobility of handholding, then I might as well shoot the Hasselblad and get better quality.

Yesterday I used a Gitzo G2220 with my Olympus XA (possibly a bit excessive for the camera size, but the only tripod I own) shooting an abandoned building.

I also use a Leica table top tripod, and got a smaller ball head than the original so that I can carry in a pocket when light gets low. I mainly use it as a chestpod to steady the camera. There's always a bigger tripod in my trunk, but doesn't see much use. I just finally sold off the big wooden pods I used when I was into medium and large format...years ago.

Not very often. The wifes getting a bit old now to lug it around.

Deliberating either a fitter model or a lighter tripod :D
