I don't have either. but for my style of slow setup and shooting an 8x10 would suit me better. If I wanted to do fast work I'd use a cheaper and almost as good camera as the leica.

HCB said, "The whole world is crumbling and Ansel is phorographing trees!" or words to that effect. For the RFF, I'd have to say that content is more important than resolution.

heh, fwiw, 21 members have taken this seriously enough to vote though they didn't admit it. Right now the vote is held by 8x10! I'm holding off so I can be a tie breaker.

[I know my answer. What's yours?

Stop ignoring us and explain your self! 😛

You can only swing one on the end of a Luigi or Gordi wrist strap ... so the answers simple! 🙂

I think a sensor size of 8mm by 10mm might be interesting. That would make it close to APS-C half-frame, but with a "weird" aspect ratio. Would there be a market demand?

Well apologies for my late return- I'm back. Yes Ron I am sorta fooling around, how many of these kind of things go round here with no real answer? All in good fun. This was prompted by a recent day out with the 810, first in two years, and a nudge from a secret instigator. Such different things these two tools. At present time I'm mostly shooting the Leica, but the 810 has appeal again. That the 810 negs suck hasn't helped, but I knew I was pushing things.

So in order:
Strawberries
Submarines
Black Chrome
Chocolate Cake (no contest there 🙂 )
The CL
The stiff poke in the arse (again no contest)
Rollerblades.

The only advantage that 8x10 has is really that you make a contact print without the need of an enlarger. The lens for most 8x10's would produce laughable performance chart curves. I know that anyone who has lugged one around is still lamenting the fact. Not mention all the additional baggage, film , changing bags, cartridges and so on.

8x10 or any view camera is a real pain in any kind of wind or rain. Try climbing a hill made of dirt that is not stable. Oh yeah there is a joy. Now lets talk carrying around 2 or 3 extra lenses.

I think that the 8x10 is a great tool of cocktail parties and collecting dust.

Best Regards...Laurance

Definately the 8x10, for me. I feel the compositions I get with it are somehow stronger in feeling. And, it is the ultimate in total control. The image is -so- much easier to see on that giant groundglass. And of course, once the slide is pulled, it is as spontaneous as my M2 (for one fantastic shot).

But I would not take it to a Rock Concert, unless I had backstage access, several useful assistants, and enough power/room. Then I would take the Leica, and the Sinar 8x10 Norma. 😀

Come on Laurance, admit it, you're just jealous.
