Your Top 5 Favorite Cameras Ever!

1. Nikon F Photomic that was my Grandfather's
2. Canon F-1 that I bought while in high school. I wish I hadn't sold it.
3. Canon 1DMK2 - It just works
4. Olympus TG-8010 - I can drop it in the river while fishing and not hurt it.
5. Fujifilm X10 - for a second hand P&S to have whenever and wherever it works well

Tim Murphy

Minox AX - pocket mechanical precision ; before the iphone era
Linhof 612PCII - panoramic perfection with built in perspective shift ; before the digital stitch
Hasselbald 501 - easy to carry around medium format square aesthetic
Leica M-A - perfect 35mm rangefinder film camera
Ricoh GR - pocket sized carry always camera - keeping same ethos while evolving from GR1 ... GRD ... GR

In no particular order:

Canham Wood Field 8x10
Hasselblad SWC/M
Leica MP 0.58
Ricoh GRD (latest)
Nikon F4S

and honorable mention goes to:
Pentax LX

I've made more frames with the Nikon F4S and Pentax LX than the others combined, but they were the only tools back when I shot for money.

...Of course then there is the Pentax LX...
Seven camera list would add the Rollei FX for me, the LX is 6 here. The LX is really perhaps the most under-rated camera ever, everything that the F3 delivered in a much smaller package. Less options for world-class glass, but enough. I made a lot of money through those two LX bodies.

The 2 most important features for me in a camera are a great viewfinder and a smooth shutter release. My favorites:

1. Olympus OM-2n
2. Olympus OM-4T
3. Nikon F6
4. Contax T2
5. Mamiya 6

Left off list: OM-1n (prefer 2n and 4T), Olympus 35SP (great lens and fun to use, but shutter release too long in throw), Nikon FM3a and FE2 (viewfinder coverage, brightness and size inferior to OM and F6, and shutter sounds overly metallic and clacky), Nikon D750 (wonderful image quality and digital convenience, but viewfinder not as good, a bit overly complicated with controls).

Leica M6
Nikon FM2
Canon AE-1 Program
Rolleicord Va II
Nikon D700

Honorable Mentions:
Nikon F80, F100, F301
Canonet QL 17 G-III

Such a difficult question :bang: I guess I have my top 3.
From the ones I still own and have never sold, and from the top of my head:

Leica M6
Leica M2
Hasselblad 500 c/m
Contax T2
Lomo LC-A

No can do 5 of mixed analog/digital (which may be easiest for Leica M film/digital users). Can do 5 of each. You can throw real tomatoes at me, or emoji tomatoes at my avatar if you disapprove

Leica M5
Fuji GF670
Olympus OM4T
Bronica RF 645
Zeiss Ikonta 520

-----------------

Sony RX1
Sony A7 Kolari
Ricoh GR
Fuji XPro
Sigma DPM

Not a tomato, but is red and round. :)

Seems the most popular responses are Leica and Nikon.

Weird.

Who'd have thought, on a forum based around rangefinders, that the only brand actively producing rangefinders would be among the top picks of most!

As for a Nikon, isn't there a thread about why Canon isn't cool?

:D

1- Hasselblad 203/2000 - Love the faster speeds and lens
2- ebOny-cameras 4x5 - the lightness and craftsmanship
3- Hasselblad H series - simply for it's quality and ergonomics
4- Rolleiflex 2.8F 12/24 - Portability for travel. This camera has been in more places because of its size
5- FujiGX680ii - Combination of quality, Bellows features and lens selection

Runner Up:
6- Contax G1/G2 - The lenses, period!
7- Plaubel Makina 670 - Badass of a camera. Portable when closed.
8- Canon 5D Classic - too many memories and amazing shots taken from this body.
9- Leica CM - Most compact camera in my system, yet delivers fantastic 35mm images.

1. IIIc, a beautiful tool and tactile experience in one, and amazing lens choices
2. Bessa II, I have the Color-Skopar version, nothing beats being able to carry acreage of negative in your pocket, and it's a coupled RF
3. OM1, my first real camera, oh that viewfinder...
4. Rollei 35S, the XA is more convenient and pocketable but the Rollei's Sonnar is something special, so I put up with the quirkiness
5. Nikon F plain prism. What a beautiful camera. Great lenses.
