I would be very grateful to see some photo's using this Zeiss lens and the m9.
I'm thinking of the 2 lens set up ,,Zeiss biogon 25 and Leica 50 lux asph on the M9.
I have a leica 35 1.4 asph which seems too close to the 50.
Thankyou!

I'd go outside and take a picture for you if I still had my M9. I don't remember which shots in my library were taken with the 25 though.
But I will say that the images are great. But you'll have to figure out exposure on your own. It definitely needs to be shot fully manual.

GASitis.. finally cured?
The best search tool I have found these days is www.fluidr.com. IMO it greatly enhances the utility of flickr to find images with combination of tags, which is otherwise painful on flickr.
Update: forgot to post the search results.

Eh? What do you mean?
If you use Aperture Priority the exposure is always off. I usually set it about +2/3 exposure comp. And that sometimes fixes it. But more often than not I just figure out the exposure and dial it in manually. Because the lens is so wide that the exposure meter thinks it's seeing something brighter than it really is.

I'm also irresistably drawn to this lens, but in the end I think I will go for the 21 biogon for a little extra width.
PeeWee, the 25 Biogon and 50 ASPH sounds like a really fantastic setup. Just awesome. Get a 90 macro elmar for your other pocket and you are golden.

a couple of 100% crops. This lens is quite close to technically perfect. Both crops from the long edge of the frame, not quite corner crops.

I think you may have just sold another 50 lenses for Zeiss with those images.
Do you think you could get away without using an external finder on the M9?

Most people could, I use the lee RF75 grad filter system so I can't see much through the built-in finder when shooting in these conditions.
The Zeiss 25mm finder is incredible though. If you're particular about framing you'd probably want it.

It also has plenty of micro-contrast and separation between plane of focus.

for those of you who use the 25, how do you deal with the minimum focus distance since it focuses down to 0.5m but the leica rangefinder only goes to 0.7m? thats the only thing stopping me from getting the lens right now.

I guess. But I don't have an M9 where you can easily check without waiting for the lab to mail back the slides. Plus focus bracketing is free on digital cameras.

I really would like to get this lens, am looking for a used copy but beginning to think people hold onto this lens.
Thankyou very much for the replies.

Daniel,
Do you have details of fstop and time on that image. Certainly looks like very narrow DOF.
