Camera and Coffee

Rover, That is too cool!

I hit a camera show yesterday. I am shipping out two cameras tomorrow (not these two!). So far this year I am still even.

The Canon Vt with 50mm F1.2 and my User L1 with a 200mm F4.5 RF coupled Komura.

SHOW ME YOUR BIG ONES (cameras and lenses only, please)!!!

Oscar, the finder in the Vt is really clean and the L1 is not bad. The 50mm mag is aboyt the same as the M2; it has a 35mm FOV that I can see with glasses, and a tele setting for increased magnification of the finder. Kind of neat. The L1 is about "80%" on the finder, a CLA would help but it is very usable. The Vt is near perfect.

How would you rate them compared to the 7 (both finder and camera?). The P is a really smooth machine Brian, you won't regret getting one (which you'll do sooner or later 😉)

Pherdinand,
you obviously haven't tried American coffee yet - you need to drink about two mugs of this size to get the caffeine intake of one small cup of European espresso; I always had a hard time telling apart coffe and tea in the US. Probably goes back to the Puritans and their advocation of sobriety and moderation... 😉

Roman: You have not tried MY coffee. My lineage here does not go back to the Puritans, just the Purculators. In the old Coffee club we took turns making the fresh pot. No one else would drink my coffee, left the whole pot for me. When they went to "measured portions", I quit. I have cut down on caffeine at home. I use equal amounts of caffeinated and decaf, each in amounts to make one full pot.

Oscar, after all this Coffee talk, it is Time for a "P"!

The finder on the Canon 7 is better than the Vt. The Vt was a good price and had the F1.2 lens on it. Plus, I like the Spinning Shutter Speed Dial. Now I have Fast (F1.4), Faster (F1.2), and Fastest (F0.95). Will post shots and a Coffee and Camera snap.

Pherdi: The big one is a Coffee Mug. It is the adult version of a "Sippy Cup" and is great for having Coffee or Wine in the Hot Tub.

That is One Nice GSN!

Look forward to seeing some pictures posted with it.

Greyhoundman: The next time that you do a CLA on the GSN could you post some pictures here on the repair forum?

If Dave (Greyhoundman) is OK with it I could take closeups of the GSN he sent me to illustrate how clean it is!

LilRedSpy - my very first rangefinder was also a GSN. (He came from all over the sea, from the big Texas, to Europe.)
Since then, i am a rf nut 🙂
Wish you great enjoyment with it.
By the way, none of my two GSN's have that nice orange star on their lens! 🙂

Thanks for the info Brian. I find the finder on the 7 to be dimmer with its bluish tint than the one on the P but OTH I prefer the 7's framelines and RF patch as its yellow has more contrast with that blue, but the P finder is brighter overall, both have pros and cons.

I read that with the spinning shutter dial you could achive double exposures simply by turning it backwards until the shutter is cocked or something like that, dunno if it's worth to try though.

Btw, no 50/1.8 ? Tsk tsk... it's the sharpest one, and you know that. 😉

I'm very curious as for the f1.2 lens, seems it has recovered some interest lately, while it was often referred as a poor performer, even by well known literature...

Oops, and how do you like the trigger winder ?
