Camera and Coffee

When I was young, my Dad would joke with my Mom "When you hit Fifty, I'll trade you in on two 25-year olds." When she turned Fifty, he said "What would I do with two Twenty-Five year olds!" I suppose you have to be at that half century point to really understand this. I certainly do.

Don't know what to do with 2 25 year-olds? I know what I'd do, and I can't beleive I'll forget in 1 1/2 years when I turn 50!

Take pictures of them, of course!

Dad was not too good with cameras, and always ended up giving them to me to take the pictures.

I prefer to take pictures of my 7-year old, and have a blast at pool parties. I think I can even photograph 7 of them at a time. At Christmas, I took pictures of over 100 Kids at one time!

I am the middle child and don't recall any hand-me-downs quite like that 🙁 did get to wear my big sisters sweat pants in the winter though. Pink is a winter color, right? ~ nice one Gordon. I know you'll be glad to get it in prime condition again.

It's been a while and I love this thread. This is an Alpa 8b that arrived today; both SLR and rangefinder so I believe shots taken with it are legal postings in the gallery 😉.

One of only 273 produced, arrived in today's mail with the lens attached (50/1.8 Kern-Switar APO). I can not find a mark or scratch anywhere on the camera or the lens -- I have been most delighted with the purchase. In its time (late '50's, early '60's) it was Alpa's top model.

Before you disqualify my recent contribution to this thread, let me try to explain it.
In a bit archaic hungarian coffee is also called "black soup".
Now, by this nice (black) gear one can soup his/her semi-finished work from cameras...
BTW black soup also means bad news. That doesn't come frome the coffee's quality but a nice habit with some turkish origin. During the meals it's forbidden to speak about "bad" things. But after that, during the coffee it's possible to discuss the not so comfortable subects too...

My reference to the '50's and '60's reminded me that a few days ago we had a guest up from Phoenix (we take pity every summer and try to get her off the face of the sun for a week or two). She was engaged with my wife in a discussion that was most definitely female-oriented, as though I was not in the room. Finally I interjected that I missed my period, too. It got their attention and I told them my period was the late fifties through the early seventies: the cars were hot, the cameras were cool...great music 😉.

Thnk you Honu; taken tonight at a chinese dinner in a bored moment - I don't think my fellow guests were too impressed at my clearing away the innumerable little bowls & plates one encounters at chinese meals, to get a clear shot. Quickly cloned some spilt food out of the background too. I liked the green tablecloth!

They don't write lyrics like they used to in the 60s...

& if you ever want to part with the 8b....

The M grip sure adds heft to the camera & I'm really not sure that it feels ergonomically right with Lutz Konermann's "sling".

i use it with a wrist strap and find it very comfortable and usable.

maybe not so good with a neck strap and i have never used a 'sling' so cannot really comment.
