Camera and Coffee

Trius, I just got this camra today so it is difficult for me to think of anyone else fondling it at this time, but I'm sure by September when the GTA group meets again, that I'll be able to handle it. I am getting a black dial as well! Cameras seem to come in bunches like bannanas! I agreed to buy a black dial camera and rebuild from Henry Scherer and then just a few days later, along came a great deal on another Contax, this one is a colour dial. Reminds me of the Pringles potato chip commercial: bet you can't buy just one!

Thanks Frank. I'll admire from afar, OK? ;-) I didn't know the next GTA gathering was in Sept., so I'll be sure and watch for that.

The lady now has her respectable skin on.
We've switched to a better fluid too. :)

It's actually a Oxford brown with reddish highlights

Apparently caffeine and alcohol have markedly different effects on the outcome of the camera coverings :).

It's the nature of the disease. Congratulations, Frank -- your new Color Dial is a beauty...and you're expecting again? With Henry's gestation period the timing is just about right :))).

My "new" '57 Rigid Summicron (thanks, Zoltan) was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday :)

Thank you. I have been practicing my "product" shots in the hope of enhancing my ebay sales ;)

Whao .. where did u get that from Terence ? the bay? thought there were like only 4000 in the world before the company wind down. Another for ur collection!

Yep, it was from Lomo and it was almost a 2 month wait before the stocks were replenished. I hear they're almost sold out. I got a T981 and a T012 to keep it company. The T012 is still available through Phenix, the chinese manufacturer but the Yasuhara badged ones are getting pretty hard to find.

My T981 bears a serial # 4301, I wonder how many did come off the production line before it shut down.

Thats a wonderful looking camera terence, remindes me of a mini R2A.

It uses the same shutter (copal mechanical) as all the Bessa's prior to the R2a and R3a. The configuration of the shutter may determine key body dimensions, thus giving youl the resemblence.

The shutter is quite a bit quieter than all the other Bessas I've owned. Sort of muted when compared to the slightly high pitched mechanical twang of the Bessa. Much heavier, stable body and feels good in the hands.
