Here's a sweet little Voigtlander Vito B which my wife recently picked up for me. It's not rangefinder, but a very pleasant, compact camera to hold and use. I especially like the rounded corners and recessed and ratcheted film advance...

Just got my Bessa R with 35mm f2.5 Color Skopar this week. Here it is with some home brew coffee at breakfast.

Since I use Series VI filters I dug around and found an Ednalite 351 filter adapter, intended for a Summicron. I also found a hood that may not vignette, but it does cut into the viewfinder. I have to find another vented hood.

we were there last year (this time last year in fact) and were looking forward to the beer museum but it was closed for renovations! I loved sapporo it's a nice city.
we got interviewed by Hakodate TV straight off the plane, they were asking visitors if the found the place freindly. we told them that we were allways amazed that the japanese have most signs in english as well as japanese, not something we do much of round here.

Simon -- it is in the West end of the city, towards Maruyama Park. I believe it is West 22 or 23. It is along Odori, or whatever Odori turns into that far west. It is directly opposite the beautiful Asai Gakuen building. I love the Maruyama area, and if I were to live in Sapporo for more than just 2 or 3 months, I would try to find a place there. It just has a nice feeling to it...

In any case, nice bessa up the thread!

Now that I've got oodles of free time, I'm finally going through some old photo CD's. Here's two C&C pics I took of my father-in-law's Zeiss Ikon Contessa. Neat little camera! The photos it takes are tack sharp!

okay, Pherd's got a 6x6 that's "a bit taller, but quite shorter." I actually understood that. But now einolu has an "essa" ..... that did it. I'm confused and going to bed. Too much C&C at once wears on the brain box.

PS: Stuart, how are you developing pictures while in Japan? Did you just do it in the hotel?

Yeah, I was going to be here for 3 months, so I just picked up a tank and a 35mm and 120 reel, thermometer, beaker, graduated cylinder, rodinal, fix and photo flo. I just go into the bathroom at night with all the lights off to load, and then use a java stopwatch and the massive development chart to find times. I have been doing well so far with Acros in Rodinal at 1:100. I like it a lot. Also, Fuji's answer to photo flo is SO much better than the kodak one. It never streaks or leaves residue, and it is not nearly as sudsy. It works much better.

The place is more like a guest house than a hotel though. It is designed to accomodate long term stays by scholars and people on cultural exchanges, so it is a bit more comfortable than a hotel (cheaper too!).

By the way, nice Russo-Japanese relations in your camera system...

I like the Ikons above too.

Stuart: Do you know if the Fuji wetting agent is available in North America? What's the brand name? I'd love to have a PhotoFlo replacement.

Trius -- It is called Fuji Driwel, but I don't think they sell it in North America, or at least I have not run into it. Another nice things -- a 200ml bottle of stock solution (which you dilute 1:200) was 189 yen, which is $1.60. I.E. nothing. I can't remember what photo-flo costs, but I am sure it is a lot more than that...

Here's my new Leica IIIf RD with coffee and a loaf of fresh oat-wholewheat-cranberry loaf from a batch I baked yesterday.

Note the Canon 50/1.8 lens, Joe!

I've not done this before with other cameras, but I've given my Leicas names. The M2, because I have only one M model, I've named Emma.

The IIIf with its Canon lens and its FSU turret finder bonnet I've named Glasnost.
