Question from a newbie. If I buy the CV 50 2.5 would the pancake 2 or the C 35 be a better match on contrast and color reproduction? Also, does the C vignette like the pancake is reported to? I actually like this “feature” of that lens. I am looking to match a CV 50 and 35 as I usually shoot in bodies of work with these two focal lengths- mostly RDP100, Tmax 100, and Portra BW. 🙂

The pancake and classic 35 Skopars have the same optical formula. In my experience they look quite different to the 50. I've owned the 50 Skopar and the 35 PII and would say the 35 is more contrasty overall. There is a sort of family resemblance though. There are lots of PII shots in my gallery and some 50 Skopar shots here

Thanks mark and nice shiny furniture shot. The people in the background become flat tops with legs just like the furniture- kinda funny detail or maybe its me.

Actually, per Cameraquest the optical formula was redesigned for the P2 from the P1 and Classic. But that is as far as I can help as I don't own a 50/2.5.
