ZorkiKat said:Many here are familiar and have seen Masferre's work. His last great exhibition, which was perhaps more than a decade ago 'introduced' his work to the local consciousness 🙂. Previous to that, Masferre's photos were largely known (and bought) by tourists who went to his place, who bought postcards printed from the negatives. These negatives (originals!), the last time I heard, are still being held by his heirs. And up until fairly recently, postcards were still being produced from the original negatives. I would assume that this has stopped by now, due to the local disappearance of paper and chemical supplies.

ugly bokeh said:Hi to all,
I stumbled upon this thread and was hooked. I read all the posts till the wee hours of the early night (I looked like a zombie today.)🙂 The tons of knowledge on this thread is amazing expecially reading about Hidalgo's lost glory, Botica de Sta Cruz's historical significance and the Jupiter's amazing value and performance (makes me want to buy the J-3.) Even the posts regarding vinyl is great, I love them to the extent I don't have a CD player at home except the one on my PC. btw, what is GAS?
I used to be an SLR user till 4 years ago when I handled my friend's RF, after that, it was all downhill. Sold all my SLR gears save for one all mechanical and a few manual focus lenses.
Hey guys, any know a reliable service guy that can calibrate RF lenses? The focus of one of lenses seems to be off.
Looking forward to actively post on this thread.
Thanks.
Regards,,

Pablito said:Jay, thanks for responding. I was aware of this. Around the time he became "known" the Smithsonian bought a big selection of his prints. My concern is with the negatives and what will happen to them. I hope the heirs have the best interest of the negatives in mind. I had heard that the the heirs did not quite know what to do with the negs. I worry about fungus and imporper storage conditions...I don't suppose there has been any organized attempts (that anyone knows of) to work with the heirs to ensure the longevity of the work?

ZorkiKat said:Should we ask for one to be formed for the Pinoy RFers? There's a recent post requesting for a regional Israeli group to be formed, for 5 active members.
There are more than 5 of us, so baka puede na? I already made a similar request a few months ago, but got no reply. Try natin ulit.

nickvesq said:Got the prints of my first roll taken using the canonet. Unfortunately, I still haven't had the film scanned. Will post pics after scanning.
Used luckyfilm B&W asa 400. Available light, mostly indoor fluorescent light. The pics look very grainy, high in contrast (or maybe I should have used flash to fill in the shadows). Wasn't satisfied with the shots but then again, I was just really playing with the camera and using cheap film.
One thing that surprised me was that for most of the shots, the shutter speed was less than 1/30 and yet, I could not discern any effect of shake in the pics. Is this due to the "fast lens" they say the canonet has or the smooth shutter button?
Will try to shoot more.
