Can anyone tell me if Walz filters, which fit the canon serenar 50mm 1.8, will also work with a leica mount Summitar 50mm f2?

I think the Walz are 40mm threads.

According to the Leica Pocket Book, the Summitar 50/2 needs a 36mm filter size.

These filters will not fit the Summitar.

The 40mm filter thread of the Canon is a standard thread while the Summitar uses a beveled thread.

Summitar filters are specific to the lens. They are 41mm in diameter in a conical mount for a 36mm thread. The evil site or an odds&ends bin are likely sources. Anyone?

The Summarit uses the 41mm filters.

Cheapest solution for Summitar filters is a clamp-on or slip-on Series VI adapter (Kodak or Canon), and Series VI filters!

Or pay SK Grimes for an E39 adapter. Pretty close to a stock item there.
