Foma 200 and 400

thanks for the info and the link John. I've shot a roll of Foma 200 and I'm very happy with the results!

I'm working my way through a batch of XTOL, using it 1:1. The results with Foma 200 are much better looking than what I've had with TX or HP4/HP5. Quite an eye-opener for me.

BTW Stefan has been getting great results with Tri-X and Tetenal T lately. Worth a look.

Download the Fomapan data sheets from their website which gives already a lot of information about these films.

i went there but found NO INFORMATION at all except safety where is the film date and development recommendation information PLEASE

I have just bought 10 rolls of formapan 200 & 10 rolls of 400 As im almost out of Ilford and Kodak---which cost a lot more

Correct about the grain: More grain then the FP400 but also more speed (a real iso 320) and it is a low contrast type film so pushing to E.I. 640 is no problem if you can live with the grain.

Some tests about this film you can find in this R.F. forum and here:
http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/244700-new-film-from-foma/

Supergrain, HC-110, FX-39, Pyrocat-HD, Microphen, Xtol.

Bad luck, nice hope

Now I will try developers with ascorbic acid to process these films. Earlier I had bad luck: no details in the shadows, quite high contrast-see pictures. I will mix an Xtol-clone on my own to overcome these issues.

Here is a 6x9cm (approx) sheet of Foma Retro 320 Soft, processed in straight Microdol-X. 1/8 f16 camera on tripod
The original negative is 9x12cm, and the image has been cropped down somewhat for scanning.
Exposed on a very overcast day, Plaubel Makiflex Standard, Kern Arau 360mm F11 process lens at f/16.
Since this film is not available in 120, this is an alternative for me. I like this film so far! 🙂
