Fujifilm X-Pro1 details leaked!!!

I not so sure why everyone is always trying to kill Leica. Leica is a luxury brand and Fuji is a consumer brand. Nothing wrong with either, but they do not compete in the same circles. I think it would be rare (not impossible) that someone was SERIOUSLY going to buy the M9 and now isn't because of the Fuji. Most Leica users who will buy the Fuji are those that were never serious about a M9 purchase. Nothing wrong with that... the X-Pro1 appears to be a great value.

largely agree- however there may be some people who really lust after an m9 for whatever reason- but can't quite afford it/justify it- but they may be bordering on the edge - desperate all the time- and finally may sell a kidney or some such to raise the dough. This camera may 'save' them from their desire. especially if the comparison photo reviews are positive...

Right, but they were seriously considering the M9 in that scenario. I can tell you one thing though... if Fuji had this out last year, I may not have upgraded from my M8.2 to the M9. I may have kept using the M8.2 for my Leica fix.

I will attempt to pre-order the camera and all three lenses today at my local camera store (this store got one of the first X100s in the mid-west last spring).

My only concern is flare from over-exposed point-source lights. This is the one fundamental flaw in the X100 (unless you want to shoot sports with it).

I'm not sure Fujifilm will take appreciable business away from Leica, but I'm pretty sure they will take business away from NikonCanon. Customers who would have bought Leica if they had the money but decided for D7000s and the like. Now for these customers there is an alternative...

If you don't count Leica cuz it's a premium brand, then it's obvious this is the case, as there is no alternative like the X-Pro1 from any other company.

Mmm, I'm a bit miffed about the purple fringing/blooming around the highlights on the blades of grass at the foot of the boulder.

Yes, I mean the iso noise performance. These do like quite over sharpened to me, Im sure that raw will be great. I also saw the purple fringing but I like lens character so it doesn't bother me.

Now will the autofocus be up to par?

Well I am someone who seriously considered the M9. The new Fuji might not pass muster and I might still buy a Leica M digital, but more likely the next generation (M10 etc). if the new Fuji is great, it most definitely will result in a lost sale (mine) for Leica. I suspect there are quite a few people like me. Main reasons?

  • Fuji is miles cheaper. This affects outlay, insurance/loss.
  • Fuji will have far superior high ISO performance.
  • I suspect the Fuji will be more reliable and require less messing about with lens/camera calibration.
  • The leica products have insane repair costs post warranty. The Fuji won't.

All I care about is viability as a tool, taking into account the above. Until the new X pro 1 arrives, the M9 has no real competition; however, until we see good reviews of the X-Pro1, we wont really know if is can oust an M from one's kit bag.

The reality is that I would prefer to buy a Leica digital M and continue seamlessly with the M lenses and film bodies I already have, but only if in doing so I get the performance, reliability and value I seek. Sadly that will not be happening with Leica it seems and so if I have to move to another brand and use a mixture of fuji lenses and Leica lenses with adaptors, with film Ms and fuji digital, I will.

Personally, I think Leica should have worked in partnership with a big digital camera maker in the way fuji and Hasselblad did with the Xpan.

this X pro-1 is amazing.

it does all the things Leica needs to do.

hybrid zoom finder
new sensor
VF sensor shut down LCD
new battery
good light sync plug

now fuji only needs to make one in full frame!!!

"now fuji only needs to make one in full frame!!!"
