Have You seen the new 35/1.4 Nokton?

I have to say that its pretty hard to tell whats going on with the bokeh. It looks good in those images, yes but only real world conditions and shooting into bright lights will tell whats going on with it. 🙂

I must say, the Bokeh looks really sweet. I wish to see a high contrast oof-picture though, for instance a foliage background.

I would buy this lens in a second if I could afford it.

That is a worst case scenerio though, no lens will perform well in that situation. I guess each will have its own rendition of poor performance, but I don't think that is a real test.

I can. I can tell they're digital. I can tell they render not-shabby-at-all bokeh. I can tell they are taken by someone who can see these things. I can tell he's excited about his new lens.

I can tell something from these photos.
 
To me those photos look similar to what Ultron35/1.7 produces. I'd like to see more though. And on film- I understand those are from M8. Yet as of now, I like Nokton 35/1.2 better.
 
Actually they look like 40/1.4 photos. The Ultron is smoother much like the 1.2.
Plus one cann't tell much about the OOF performance because of crop factor.

Check out the banister struts, the 'hardness' is typical of the 40/1.4 wide open. This effect is what mucks up busy backgrounds at certain distances from the focal plane. My 35 Nokton renders this stuff smoothly.

But hey, this is just one set and my 40/1.4 is still my most used lens. Thinking about it I know the perfect test subject for the new Nokteen's bokeh - a certain Victorian' dining house (and it's wallpaper in particular) 🙂
 
From those examples the lens does appear to be very sharp. It does have the circular bokeh highlights "feature", which while subjective, other lens (noct, old sonnar swirley bokeh lenses, cardboard tubes, summarit, old nikkor primes) have avoided or lessened - the noctilux with wild ovals 😉 and others with either purposely or other induced SA or other techniques.

I'm sure it will be a huge seller.

Where are you seeing the vignetting? I'm glad that the first shots are from a digital. It looks brilliantly sharp. Removes any development or scanning imperfections.
 
I saw it in a Hong Kong camera shop with a price tag of US$410 today (real cheap!). However, the shop people told me that it only has one version. I checked out the lens and it didn't show M.C. nor S.C. on the lens or the box...very interesting. As I was in a hurry, so I didn't ask much. I will go back tomorrow with cash and ready to get one! 🙂
