The 35/1.4's arrived today -- but the LH-6 hoods won't arrive until Fri or Sat.
The 35/1.4 looks almost exactly like the 40/1.4. They could be mistaken for each other, although the new 35 has "35" on the lens barrel and is VERY slightly shorter than the 40. Both lenses have the same 55mm diameter, while the 40 is 29.7mm long and the 35 is 28.5mm long. Both take 43mm filters. Both focus as close as .7m, with half stops to f/16. The 35/1.4 is actually very slightly heavier than the 40/1.4, 200g vs 175g. The 35/1.4 takes the new LH-6 lens hood which is now also the lens hood of the 40/1.4, as the LH-5 lens hood is now discontinued.
For the first time ever, photogs will finally be able to buy a new not too expensive 35/1.4 rangefinder lens. The only RF 35/1.4 lens made before this was the Leica 35/1.4 Summilux.
Thanks Mr. K!

Tom A said:My 35f1.4 arrived this afternoon and the correct hood for it. Nice little compact lens, fractionally smaller that the 40f1.4, but bigger than the Summilux 35f1.4.
I have just loaded 3 M2's with Double XX, one with the new 35/1,4 SC, one with the 40/1,4 SC and one with my 35/1,4 Summilux .The latter is a late version of the pre-Asph Summilux and it was "blueprinted" at Midland so it is my benchmark against every other 35/1,4 is measured and that includes against 35f1.4 Asph and the latter was found wanting and I sold it!
I hope to have the three rolls done tommorow and souped tomorrow night for Friday posting on the Flickr. If the weather holds up for the weekend I might do another testrun with Adox KB 14 and the same lenses. That will tell us more about f1.4 performance and "bokeh" stuff.
