It's official, it is goin to be a digital Pen

Relatively quite at the DPI forums and the thread at the Pentax forum is off the first page.

I think every one is worn out arguing about the rumors and potential merits based on the rumors. I don't expect the actual camera will be much different than what has already been speculated. I wonder if that will mean there will be no buzz this time tomorrow?

I'm just hoping the Chief Bartender has the server all lubed and washed. Something tells me the bits are going to need to be moving faster than normal.

It will be interesting to see what the reactions are once it's officially announced (and reviewed even).

My wife and I are heading to Tokyo at the end of July and last weekend she dropped her p&s in the ocean. I'm not sure if this was a ploy to get a new camera, but in any case. She's been wanting a dslr but is concerned about the size. I've been thinking about an LX3 or an e-p1 for myself, but maybe I'll get the E-P1 for us to share. It seems like it will be the right size for her with all the functionality she wants, and I'll be able to use it whenever. But now that I have to buy something, I hope availability is before we leave...

It will be very nice if the camera is already in reviewers' hands and we can get more info than just that from Olympus.

that reminds me of a scene in titanic

Nothing so dramatic - she was taking a macro of a hermit crab and it just slipped out of her hands. We were in like 6 inches of water. The camera (pana fx-01) actually still works, but there's salt and sand in the zooming mechanism and the built in lens cap.

Between the Panasonic DMC-L1, DMC-G1, and now the E-P1 we're getting some interesting stuff from the 4/3 cameras. I'd like to see the Samsung NX series before I jump though.

Isn't it tomorrow in Japan already? And the 15th starts in the UK in about 25 minutes. Maybe those of us in the US and Canada can get our fix before the 11:00Pm news...

I am interested in the M4/3, not regular 4/3. The NX will be an interesting offering, but I personally, am interesting in a high quality P&S rather than a small DSLR replacement. My guess is that the Pentax K7 can do everything the NX will be able to do at least as well or better, other than use other companies lenes with adaptors.

Interesting though for sure that the M4/3 format can offer that "P&S" and "Mini DSL without the Reflex".

The announcement in the east is 6/16 not the 15th.

I just looked at Olympus' japanese website and the pen history slideshow thingy shows next update 6/16 at the end - i.e. tomorrow (it's 9am on the 15th in Japan).

Isn't NX supposed to be another proprietary format with a smaller flange depth? Allowing for adapting as well as "smaller than K7" bodies?
